Product is misrepresented,

This product label specifically states that the 1000 sample problems thet are both seismic and surveying. They are all surveying and no seismic. Also some of the surveying problems are poorly written and riddled with mistakes. Example: I select A as the answer and it states that my answer is wrong and C is the correct answer but their answer matches A not C. Don't believe the five star ratings. Click on see all my reviews for the five star ratings which are obviously a scam. Boy these folks take a lot of professional exams ranging from Civil Engineering to other exams that have nothing to do with engineering at all. Wait a minute, What is this? A different title and Author! These reviews were written for California Seismic and Surveying Principles Simulation Software 1000 questions! How did they get posted for Principles and Practice of Land Surveying Sample Examination which isn't available yet? This isn't fair to Mr. Cole!

Good example examination for PLS,
By Rod Man "Big Daddy" (Cedar Rapids, Ia USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fundamentals of Surveying: Sample Examination, Third Edition (Paperback)
Good sample exam for PLS examinees. Gives you a good feel of what to expect on the PLS exam itself. It is setup in very much the same way the actual NCEES exam is setup.
The negative is that the cost is rather high for a 25 question sample exam that I was able to run through in less than an hour. Recommendation: If you are in a cost crunch in purchasing a number books to study from, I would purchase this book last. I would start by purchasing the 1001 Fundamentals of Surveying book. Much more information is provided in that book for about the same cost. If cost is not an concern, I found it somewhat useful just for the comfort level of what to expect on the exam itself.

There are 20 tests with 50 problems each, ALL SURVEY, NONE SEISMIC. I contacted the publisher by phone and email, no answer...What is going on, am I the only one not finding the seismic???
Who wrote all the 5 starts reviews so far?? I'll post again if I hear back for the publisher, but looks like this is a disappointing return.

Good Book, alittle expensive,

This review is from: Principles and Practice of Land Surveying Sample Examination (Paperback)
I found this review item to be very usefull and well laid out. It covers a variety of subjects and to date it's the best practice exam book I have seen. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the price. Stand alone it's 5 stars.

Just found out that this cd doesn't have the seismic part on the CD. Feel like an idiot because that was the major reason for buying it. Even with the seismic, the program was flawed, answering questions wrong. I would rate the survey half of this cd to be about 2.5 stars. Nothing like the 4-5 stars from some of the other reviews. Unless the seismc section they got was head and shoulders above this one, I don't see how they could rate it that high.

This was very helpful in reviewing for the CA PE. It goes through every step so you can figure out how they arrived at the solution to the problems after each question or all solutions at the end.
Many of the problems are more involved than you would expect for a timed exam, but they help to build the endurance for the actual exam. I highly recommend this as part of a comprehensive exam preparation plan.

I have passed my exam successfully in first attempt with this program.
The thing that helped me more than anything was to sit down and really read through the formulas including in the practice problems that they are going to give you when you show up. I found that to be pretty true and I think knowing where formulas were was extremely helpful. The format of the test questions I took were exactly like the sample questions from this set. Of course the questions weren't "ver batem" but they get your mind thinking in the right directions.

I practiced for my exam using this program as much as I could during my free time. I improved in the Office Procedures area which I had struggled with in the past. I even sharpened my slope distances, angle measurements and traverses fundamentals.
Surveying is a simpler subject, but the test is fast paced and inconsistent from cycle to cycle. Become familiar with the practice problems. Another source is the Mansour manual, great for formulas and problems. The surveying test can range from a geometry/trig test to closing a traverse and equipment theory. Older guys like myself get worn out about 2/3 through the test.

Passed PE,
By Johnson (United Kindgdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Principles and Practice of Land Surveying Sample Examination (Plastic Comb)
I passed the PE in June. It was very helpful using a computerized prep program to study for this exam. The program itself ran well on my computer and does have a large database of questions. I also have a MAC so i was a little disappointed i couldn't run the program on MAC. The other California civil exam preparation books I looked into were too expensive. Tips - Read Professional Engineers Act, Professional Land Surveyors Act carefully. If you can, read Subdivision Map too. As I remember, there were about 9 to 14 questions relating to those Acts in both times I took the survey. If you do know these Acts, you can solve each problem in within 30s to 1 min, which means that you can save 10 mins to 20 mins for other questions. I had 10 minutes left on clock when I finished the survey exam last time.
