5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book on relativity, September 17, 2011
This review is from: Principles of Relativity Physics (Hardcover)
This is a beautiful and uncommon book on relativity for physicists. It's sad that it didn't get the recognition that it deserved over the years. The writing is very clear and it has an unconventional depth to it, reflecting an apparent love for open-minded physics by the author. It covers many topics rarely touched upon in most relativity texts. It's outdated in a number of areas now, but overall it's still very useful. For example, it covers the classical radiation reaction formulas, the classical electron theory, the motion of classical spinning particles in general relativity, relativistic fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, relativistic wave equations, gravitational radiation, etc, and it has some nice introductory mathematical chapters. I've owned this book for about 40 years, and I still find it useful.
