This review is from: Principles of Sufism (Paperback)
This extraordinary book is accessible to the novice, yet offers very practical knowledge to the experienced traveller. Rather than just being another book about Sufism, this book invites one to walk on the path. It is highly concentrated, crystal clear, and very, very REAL!! Rare in its purity.

As a student of Sufism for over twenty years, I am amazed at the ability of the author to convey the foundational principles of Sufism eloquently -- for both the novice and the experienced Sufi practitioner. It was insightful and filled with resources and inspiration. I have read the book several times now, and continuously find gems of revelation.A must have for people interested in or studying Sufism.

This review is from: Principles of Sufism (Paperback)
This author specializes in clear, succinct explanations of abstract Sufi principles. Following in the foot steps of her renown father, the enormously influential Moulana Shah Maghsoud, she clarifies delicate Eastern mystical concepts, often utilizing Western scientific principles as reference points. If you prefer clear and concise writing to muddled and murky, you'll appreciate the tone of this book. And if you have a deep interest in Sufism, this is that rare thing: reliable information from a dutiful Sufi scholar and researcher.Highly recommended!

A book full of wisdom,
By A Customer
This review is from: Principles of Sufism (Paperback)
I have read many books on Sufism yet none explain with such depth and clarity the twelve essential principles of this mystical path. The depth of knowledge of the author comes through in her writing and it is clear that she has much wisdom to share with readers of many levels. Each chapter can be studied in depth and re-read with new learning each time. Highly recommended for those who seek true understanding of the path and principles of Sufism.

There is not much I can say about this book. The book speaks far better for itself than ever I could hope to. I congratulate the author on exhaustive research, and brilliant compilation. In reading this book, I finally began to understand the true principles of Sufism. The author's deep understanding of these Principles allows her to convey them in the purest form. I have read and re-read this book several times, at different stages in my life, and find a magnificent jewel of understanding in each reading. This book is a must read, for both those who are interested in or are long-time students of Sufism.

The Best Available Explanation of Practical Sufi Practice,
By Hank Edson (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Principles of Sufism (Paperback)
Dr. Nahid Angha, co-founder of the International Association of Sufism, is a Sufi Master and her contribution in literature to accurate Western understanding of Sufi mysticism is unequalled. Not only does she write with the grace and clarity of a poet and the structured logic of a scientist, but she possesses the direct knowledge of her subject lacking to so many scholarly attempts to interpret Sufi philosophy. In addition to a valuable and beautiful introduction, Principles of Sufism devotes a chapter to each of the twelve principles which guide the spiritual practitioner toward inner experience of unity with God through the light of the heart. Of course, only a few are destined to complete the mystics journey and to attain the Sufi's knowledge, but none can read this important offering to human understanding without understanding themselves in new ways and thus without also becoming closer to God, which is the unity of all existence. As Sufis often quote, "To know oneself, is to know one's Lord." This is a book to read and reread for the rest of your life. It comes with the highest recommendation.
