Format: Paperback
This book (which I wrote) is a good source for concepts underlying both scanning tunneling microscopes and high temperature superconductors. If you cannot find a copy, write a letter to Dover Publications.

This book may be 25 years old, but I still find it to be an excellent review on various types tunneling transport. These sorts of measurements are largely in the realm of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy these days on which there are a number of reference texts. However, the concepts and background are presented very intuitively and clearly in this text. For those of us measuring heterojunctions, it remains a priceless reference source since the oft used numerical simulations can over look certain barrier and final state effects such as molecular vibrations, impurity levels, k-space considerations and other effects.
