This isn't an actual review for the product, but rather a warning to anyone reading the rest of the reviews - you may not have realized it, but the vast majority of the Amazon reviews so far for Print Artist Platinum 23 are generic reviews solicited by the developer, Nova Development. If you came here expecting honest, unbiased reviews of PA Platinum 23, you won't find any right now - instead you'll see about 10 reviews with this disclaimer:

Which is really a roundabout way of them admitting they are rigging the review score.
I'll probably end up buying this product anyway because there are very limited options these days in the category - the golden age of respectable greeting card applications ended about 7 years ago - and when I do I will come back and post an honest review.
I'm not saying don't buy the software, I just want everyone to realize that there is more to these reviews than just 10 generically pleased buyers.
Caveat Emptor!

I have owned and used many Print Artist Programs by Sierra for doing my graphic art work and I have always been completely satisfied with their products... UP TO THE TIME I bought this NOVA Print Artist Platinum, it is outright cheap in comparison to the old Sierra Print Artist! It does not have the ease of operation of Sierra's Print Artist and does not have as many usable graphics, plus it has a nonworking search engine for graphics. I give it an F grade in comparison to the Sierra Print Artist that I own--buyer beware! Sierra where are you?! I miss your User Guide...Nova does not care to give their customers any guidance information with this product...not even on how to install properly. I wish, Sierra, you had been more selective as to whom you sold out to.

I just bought this version of Print Artist to replace my old version of The Print Shop. I upgraded to Windows 7 and TPS won't run on it. I am disturbed to say the least. The interface looks like it was designed for children. The only thing this product offers that is worth anything are the predesigned templates. The text effects useless. The graphics are way to cartoon like to use. The "extra bonus" disks are not integrated into the program. The search function is so limited as to useless, but you can't search the bonus disks at all! I am returning this program tomorrow and buy the latest version of TPS! Nova should be ashamed of themselves for even selling this!

Having owned Sierra Print Artist I was sure this would be great! NOT. Into a project it says "Print Artist needs to shut down and restart" Then you lose your project. Well I thought maybe it was Vista, so tried it on a different comp, with Windows 7. Same deal. The graphics search engine does not work, bonus graphics are not integrated, so you have to load the cd, look thru the whole d*@N thing! Oh, and the graphics are cheesy. What a waste of $$$, maybe I'll get my rebate, although I've just now read "fat chance of that"

First a note to Amazon: ***Please remove those reviews written by NOVA Development employees.*** I count on user reviews to guide me when buying products from Amazon. The reviews I'm referring to are purely advertising. I believe you will find that all the 5 and 4 star reviews of this product have been written by NOVA employees. THIS IS NOT A 5 START PRODUCT! Please don't mislead us any longer.

This product comes with 3 disks and a manual. They should ditch the manual and go with the electronic docs. However, both are worthless. The install disk will install the base product. It worked without a problem. There is nothing anywhere that tells you how to install or use the Bonus Graphic disks. There is a program to browse the extra fonts. However, nothing to help install them. Mostly they have to be installed one at a time using Windows methods.

The program does function and the user interface is workable. But the search for graphics is horrible. In my Print Artist 2003, I could type in the word 'tractor' and it would display the tractor images for me no matter what folder they were in. If I type the word 'tractor' into the search for this software, the program displays nothing even though there are many tractor pictures there. NOVA has not put the effort into indexing the pictures. You have to drill down into each category in order to find anything. If you have 2003, don't upgrade.

Also, if you are already a Sierra Print Artist user, none of your existing projects will transfer or import into this system.

And one last blow, the package advertises that this software will create slideshow CDs or DVDs. However, when you try to write a slideshow DVD, it takes you to the NOVA website and demands money before it will continue.

I wish I had read the reviews for Print Artist Version 22. Most of this was covered by real customers. Instead, I was mislead by the multi-star rating boosted here by NOVA employees and the good name of Print Artist.

Don't be mislead. This is a second-rate product banking on Sierra's past efforts.

I can't believe I am the only one with computers that this program will not run on! I too had great experiences with earlier versions (Sierra) of Print Artist, but both PA 22 and 23 refused to run on 3 out of the 4 computers I tried to install and run them on. Vista 32bit and Win7 64bit systems. When I called support I got a run-around making me think the problem was computer related. This is the only program I've installed that refuses to run and these computers run perfectly otherwise. I ended up purchasing another print program and it runs great on these same computers. All I can tell you is Nova will never get any of my hard earned money again!

Product did not work on my computer. Mayne because not compatable with XP operating system.
Producr was return for new box to try again and same thing.

The graphics are crude at best. It certainly is not easy to use. What a waste of money!

This software is more difficult to use than it should be for as many years as this and others have been in existence. The clip art is limited and not up to today's standards either.

I thought I would look up print artist to see if a new version has been made, because I have the very old sierra version, which I just LOVE! I could type in a keyword, like balloons, and all the balloon graphics would come up. I even bought the next sierra print artist after my initial one, and you could still pull up a keyword. With the newer versions from NOVA, these programs are from CAVEMEN AND WOMEN..... why in the heck would they take away a KEY feature of this program, (the keyword search) and only have categories. You have to search and search so many categories to find a specific graphic you're looking for. This new company took over, and did a piss poor job in this particular portion of the program. You should listen to your customers and bring this back, and make a big deal about it so people will buy this program and not be diappointed like several people have been and will be in the future. Nova you're going backwards not forward on such a simple task that can be done.

I was so glad to see other people have the same problem I'm having with the Nova
Print Artist... Lighten up NOVA and put this back on the program.
