Product Description
Print Liberation is a comprehensive DIY guide to screen printing for both novice crafters as well as experienced artists. The book begins by giving readers a brief history of screen-printing while outlining the basic principles of the process including the equipment and tools needed to get started. Step-by-step instructions accompanied by full-color photographs show readers the various methods for making great screen prints and tips on how to avoid screen-printing mistakes. Information about printing on various surfaces from wallpaper to t-shirts, cylinders and more gives readers a general understanding of the various applications for screen-printing and solid information on how to turn their screen prints into a personal art or business. Bonus sample images formatted for screen-printing are included for readers to use in their own screen prints.

About the Author
Jamie Dillon and Nick Paparone met twelve years ago while skateboarding in front of a Subway restaurant in a suburban strip mall. Throughout the years they have collaborated on many diverse projects, including everything from printing wallpaper to re-constructing the peak of Mount Everest. In 1999 they founded the Print Liberation, a design and print studio dedicated to pounding the malleable nature of culture with typography, T-shirts and screen-printed objects. Currently the two live in Philadelphia where they can be found working hard every day to make new things for the world and its people.

5.0 out of 5 stars great resource, July 8, 2008
This is a fantastic purchase for both beginner and experienced silkscreeners, but is particularly great for those wanting to get started. The book is inspiring and interesting, providing detailed steps for creating your own prints on fabric, paper, and other objects. It also includes a history of silkscreening, a glossary, material supplier information, tips for starting your own business, and several free transparencies that you can use for your first print. Great buy- I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've Been Liberated!, July 6, 2008
This book is a great primer on screen printing! It is kind of like "T-shirts for Fun & Profit"-lite. This book is particularly useful for the weekend warrior or part-time entrepreneur. The step-by-step examples are terrific and clearly explained. As soon as I paged through it I came up with some ideas.

That said, if you are looking for more detailed information, you should also pick-up How to Print T-Shirts for Fun and Profit. But get this one, too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Print Liberation, October 20, 2008
By Ben Charland (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Page for page "Print Liberation, The Screen Printing Primer" is by far the best introduction to screen printing out there. Excellent color photographs and illustrations, materials lists, step-by-step instructions, and helpful troubleshooting ideas. I also enjoy the short historical blurbs that help contextualize screen printing--from its origins in adverts to the lofty heights of Warhol. Print Liberation has a back in the day DIY feel in its total sharing of tips and techniques. You get the sense the authors want you to surpass them in awesomeness. Can't be beat. If you've never screen printed before it'll get you where you want to go.
