5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect reference for the publishing world., July 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Printing in a Digital World (Paperback)
Printing in a Digital World is a goldmine for anyone involved in the world of printing. Chapters covering design, history, fonts, graphics, software and the mechanics of printing offer guidance to all who must produce a printed piece, regardless of their experience level. Each section of the book is liberally illustrated, giving visual detail to the text. All aspects of production are covered in great depth (and with a humorous edge!) including the new areas of web design and pdf workflow. The stepped illustrations showing how to "adjust" a poor scan and the presentation of a photograph printed with different line screens were particularly enlightening to me. I would highly recommend this book to everyone who must produce a project for print or web.

4.0 out of 5 stars A heavily illustrated introduction!, May 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Printing in a Digital World (Paperback)
An introductory textbook covering the entire contemporary printing process, with an emphasis on electronic prepress operations. Projects and exercises are included in each chapter. The author uses a large number of illustrations, making the introduction of new information more understandable for those new to the field.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overview, but..., May 21, 2009
By
This review is from: Printing in a Digital World (Paperback)
This text provides a good overview to graphic communications, desktop publishing, and imaging. Now it is a bit dated, but interesting for its historical content. The author seems a bit smug with some of his writing style. The review questions could have been better. There were a number of typos, which detracted from the book.
