Format: Hardcover
From the oldest forms of woodcuts and lithographs, to the modern computer age of digital transfers, there are many different and distinctive forms of printmaking including silkscreens, lithographs, screenprints, mezzotint, serigraph print, linocut, vitreograph, photoetching, aquatinit, drypoint, and more. In the hands of a skilled and gifted artist, printmaking can rise to the level of fine art. Expertly compiled and deftly edited by Jeffrey B. Snyder, "Printmakers Today" is a 256-page, profusely and beautifully illustrated compendium showcasing sixty-three contemporary artists whose technical skill and imagination have produced museum quality work. Each individual artist showcased begins with an extended statement by the artist about their approach and then superbly reproduced and representative examples of their work. Of special note is the opening section on Terminology with respect to the processes and categories of printmaking. An impressively informed and informative volume from beginning to end, "Printmakers Today" is an especially recommended acquisition selection for personal, professional, academic, and community library Contemporary Art History reference collections and supplemental reading lists.
