There's a wealth of information in this book about mixed media techniques which you could incorporate into textile items, although they are illustrated mostly on paper. There's an excellent section on many different types of printing with striking designs. They include screen, monotype, collograph, relief and sun printing. Every chapter has interesting examples using the different processes. Included are some projects making small books and collages, greeting cards and a calendar. This book would be an excellent resource for City & Guilds students.-Fabrications This book is all about fresh ideas using printmaking and mixed media on fabric and paper. All the usual printing techniques are explored and there are lots of fun projects to try your hand at them. I like the monotype placemats and the ideas for sun printing. About the Author

Dorit Elisha is a mixed-media artist, printmaker, book artist, and fiber artist who works as an art instructor in printmaking and related mixed-media art for adults and as an elementary school art teacher for the past 18 years. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and published in books and magazines including Cloth Paper Scissors, Legacy, Quilting Arts Magazine, and Somerset Studio. She lives in Sunnyvale, California.

Elisha's book is full of wonderful printmaking ideas. One of the things I really like about it is that the techniques she describe seem very simple and easy to do, yet the results are complex and beautiful. Looking at all the projects made me want to just drop everything and get out in the studio. I have tried a couple of the techniques so far and the directions were very easy to follow and the results were terrific. I had a ton of fun and I can't wait to try more of them. If you are interested in using printmaking in your mixed media work, this is an excellent resource.

This is a good book to have as an overview of several printmaking techniques that are useful for mixed media printmaking. I especially like the section on collagraph printing, but all sections and techniques were fun to read about, and fun to try. There are a LOT of great examples, in various artistic styles, and I like the fact that the author used other artists' work, not just her own - I think that makes for better imagineer-ing to the benefit of the reader.

Though this book does introduce readers to basic concepts and techniques for a variety of printing methods, its real value for me came from the excellent examples by featured artists. It was so exciting to see what was possible with the various techniques (silk screen, collage, monotype, sun prints) that I couldn't wait to get started on my own projects. It doesn't have designs and templates for readers to copy; rather, it encourages people to find their own voice using paper, ink, fabric and a multitude of other affordable materials. Recommended.
