Product Description

It’s never easy being the new guy in town. Especially when you’re gay, single and broke. Not only does Dylan fall into every one of those categories, but he’s also homeless and heartbroken as well and all before he’s celebrated his twenty-first birthday. Even though his older brother, Lucas, let him move in and found him a job at the local EMS company, Dylan has never felt lower. He’s been hurt and betrayed by everyone he loved, with the lone exception of Lucas and Dylan vows he’ll never open himself up to the pain that comes with caring about others. If that means he dies alone and bitter, then so be it. It sure as hell beats getting kicked in the ass by life again.

After working nearly ten years as a firefighter for Flint, Kaleb has seen all kinds of misery and broken spirits. Just when he thought nobody could tug at his heartstrings anymore, along comes a young, shy, dark-haired paramedic named Dylan. Even though he tries to ignore it, the haunted expression in Dylan’s gaze draws Kaleb in and before he knows it, he finds himself falling for the younger man. But will Kaleb be able to convince Dylan to open his heart one more time or will the past destroy both of their hopes for a future?

3.0 out of 5 stars This one falls short!, August 26, 2010
This review is from: Priority One (EMS Heat) (Kindle Edition)
For a book nearly $4.00 I did not expect it to be so short. Barely over one hour of reading! Compared to Fair Game or Driftwood, 2 amazing books I read recently and worth much more than its value, I just feel Priority One is a "ripped off". I wish they will indicate the number of words for e-books!
The price aside, I did like both Dylan and Kaleb even if their relationship is the same old "virgin boy" getting his first time with the older hunk of his dreams. Researching a bit more, this is the 3rd book in a series about gay paramedic guys, their works and finding love. This is my first taste of this writer's works and it does reminds me of Carol Lynn's but the sex is shorter which I totally appreciate. On the other hand the story is too short to support pages after pages of sex scenes. LOL!
The plot in Priority One has potential. Twenty year old Dylan is struggling to get over his homophobic father's treatment, his older brother's neglect, a spineless ex-lover and now the possibility of a romance with Kaleb, a fireman hunk known only for one night stands. But unfortunately the plot was never drilled into and just lacks depth. Suddenly Kaleb is all for Dylan which is hard to understand when this hunk could have anyone. Surely more struggles are needed. Granted the words are limited but I have read much better shorter ones with more emotional depth. I am not saying her writing is bad but it could have done with more emotions and depth. And I really expected more since this one is listed as the no. 1 selling gay book in Amazon! This makes me wonder about the taste of most M/M readers. Are they just satisfied with a simple romance, easy to read, with some sex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Error at end of book., September 17, 2010
This review is from: Priority One (EMS Heat) (Kindle Edition)
The stray word 'HE' at the end of the book doesn't belong there. The publisher has tried to remove it, but for some reason it keeps coming back. Therefore, the end isn't missing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Stephanie Hecht, September 17, 2010
This review is from: Priority One (EMS Heat) (Kindle Edition)
I'm addicted to all of Stephanie Hecht's series and this book does not disappoint. I laughed, cried and fell in love with both Dylan and Kaleb. Not only do we get to see old favorites from the previous books, but we get to see one villain actually has a human side. A must read for any Hecht fan.
