Sit down and smile for the next hour or so and visualize all the fun everyone is having listening to this exciting Cd from the wild and wonderful show.I saw it 2 weeks ago and the sequins are still in my hair!..What fun for all. That is what it all about and a story of the transvestite getting back to his son with his two drag queen friends..in the outback of Australia. Go along with it and you will have a wonderful time seeing and/or listening..you,too, will be dancing in the aisles!

This soundtrack has all the hits we remember and love from the disco era. When the radio starts "talking" I pop it in and sing along. A wonderful collection of my generation's oldies.

I was a little in doubt when in New York in line to get a ticket for a show in Times Square: I am a big Broadway fan and really wanted to see the new "Rent", show I loved when on Broadway: but by the time I got to the window a very nice lady told me "Rent" was sold out: another show I wanted to see was "Spiderman", but also no seats available: she said to me. "I have a very good deal on Priscilla" . I doubted a while, but when I saw a very impatient lady behind me, I said ok, I'll take it. I didn't dislike the idea, cause I loved the movie, but usually I doubt the quality of a show taken from a movie. I was wrong! Priscilla queen of the desert is a lovely show, well written and full of fun and great music. Of course you don't have to expect a masterpiece, the music is a listing of great songs from the '80s, no original songs, but the performes are full of talent and the show rolls in front of you smoothly and quietly you don't want it to end when it ends! If you want to enjoy a night out and forget all about life and its problem, Priscilla is the cure and the original cast album is a good reminder of your night out in "fun".

While the show appears to be a visual spectacle, I find this soundtrack to be dull & uninspired. It worked when Baz Luhrmann created the 2001 version of "Moulin Rouge!" by using various pre_recorded songs, but he gave them a fresh new twist. Now we get to hear songs we already know, sung by groups of people in chorus fashion, with very little lead vocals. The few we get are not stand out voices. It seems that the three lead males are actually replaced by "three divas" as the liner notes indicate. Reminds me of "Little Shop of Horrors", which also worked since they were simply narrators & lookers on, but not central characters in the show. Apparrantly whenever the guys are performing drag, we get the "three divas" instead. Every so often we get the real guys & rewarding. Nick Adams appears to have a good Broadway show voice, but he isn't able to stand out as the songs he has to work with don't really allow for any range whatsoever. The show may be lots of fun, but as an "Original Broadway Cast" album this is not. I think it will be easily forgotten. It's merely a showcase of songs we already have heard rehashed in a boring & forgettable style, especially since most of it is with large groups of people singing together.

I got my mother a ticket to see this play on Broadway so as a thank you she purchased the soundtrack for me. It is a wonderful CD to exercise too! As I listen to it, I can just imagine my mother dancing in her seat while watching the play and know she really enjoyed it especially because of the music. The remake of the songs are done wonderfully and it's a very upbeat and fun CD. Get it even if you haven't seen the musical.

I saw "Priscilla" the movie and also "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" the musical on Broadway. The musical was fabulous! I bought two CDs and sent one to my friend who treated me to the musical as a birthday gift. Best gift! I play the music and just dance around the room, sing and just have fun! A true mas grande fun experience!

It should first be suggested, you're best served by seeing the movie before you see the musical, as by doing so you can understand how creatively they stuck to the original plot line, while still adapting it to musical theater. You are then in turn best served in seeing the musical before you purchase this album, as your appreciation of each song grows by understanding the emotions and circumstances surrounding it.

Neither of these points has anything to do with the actual quality of the product you're thinking about purchasing however, and in these regards, I can tell you that if you liked the show on stage, you'll be equally pleased with this version thumping through your home or car stereo as well. The sound in general is very robust, and unlike a lot of "cast albums" out there, this one is performed with the same amount of energy and gusto as the stage performance.

Obviously, while most of the titles are recognizable as established pop songs, these are not just "covers," and each was chosen to move the plot along. So don't expect these to be as long as the originals, nor necessarily arranged in the same fashion. Some are pretty close, while others take on a wholly new life of their own (for instance, while I originally thought that MacArthur Park was a rather odd choice for inclusion, it turned out to be arranged in such a fashion as to be one of the strongest tracks in the show, and on the album).

I did not award this cast album a fifth star, only because the producers made the same mistake with this, that was made with "Mamma Mia.
