This is arguably my favorite in this wonderful series about the life of Paul as seen through the eyes of those who knew him best.

As book four begins, as usual with painful but unsurprising news of the martyrdom of one of the characters we've come to love, Priscilla remembers back to what must have been one of the worst times of Paul's life - with Priscilla and Aquilla going to Rome and life-threatening danger; no news from Timothy about whether the Philippian congregation has survived Blastinius' latest assault and, worst of all, the mysterious disappearance of Titus, who as time goes on seems more and more likely to have been killed.

Priscilla herself is one of the most engaging voices in the series in this entry which proves that just when everything seems to be going wrong, God sometimes gives us a break in this world. With the inevitable subject matter of the next and last book (not yet released as of this writing), it's a period of happiness the characters must sorely have needed to face what was to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book ... with one caution., July 24, 2008

I love all 5 books in this series, and it's done wonders for my understanding and appreciation of the New Testament. My only negative comment (and it's only one among a host of loves for this series) is that the author seems to have some issues with church leadership, and all through the series there are little comments about leaders that start undermining leaders and elders in churches. Although there is much abuse at times by leaders - he seems to go too far away and inserts his preferences as "biblical" in these books.
Other than that, very useful books in getting to understand the context in which Paul's letters were written, and much of the NT for that matter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Priscilla Diary, November 10, 2005

This book is one I highly recommend. Gene Edwards brings us to a place where we realize that the disciples were human like the rest of us. Yes it is fictional but the character development portrayed in this first century diary, The Priscilla Dairy and the rest are so enjoyable. It gives the reader a sense of almost being there with them as the church forms and sharing in their joy.

Another aspect of the book is that it gives us a deeper look at what a Martyr is and how their blood has formed the church as we know it today. Most of us do not like to think about suffering but as a Christian we are going to suffer with Christ in one way or another.

This book will bring us to a deeper revelation of who we are as a fellow believers in Christ.
Bravo! Gene Edwards you have done it again.

Gene Edwards has used the Bible and archaeology to create the backdrop for the world of the book of Acts. Using a polished style he draws the reader into this New Testament world of the Apostles and especially of Paul and his missionary journeys.
An excellent book.
