NOT a rainbow prism,

The item being sold is a RIGHT-ANGLE prism.
Right angle prisms DO NOT make rainbows! They let you look around corners. Equilateral prisms refract light and make rainbows. The name (Refracting Prism), picture, and product description ("Experience the amazing full color spectrum!") are misleading because they say that this prism does make rainbows, but they are wrong. The product features ("Right-Angle Plastic Prism"), however, is correct. If someone who had done their homework (like me), or even done five minutes of homework, and saw this ad, then they would see the contradictions and either bypass the ad altogether and post a warning to other shoppers (like me), or send an email asking for clarification. ONCE AGAIN THIS PRODUCT IS A RIGHT ANGLE PRISM AND DOES NOT MAKE RAINBOWS!!! EQUILATERAL PRISMS MAKE RAINBOWS. go buy one of them if a rainbow is what you want.

RE: Accoutrements "Refracting" Prism (#10295).
What confusion and "fun", huh?! Ordered this item (January 2012) primarily based on reviewer K.K.D.S.`s conclusion that this is a RIGHT-angle (which is what I wanted) --- not a "refracting" (=equilateral) prism as the Accoutrements blistercard indicates. After initial doubt upon receiving this product, conclude that K.K.D.S. is precisely correct! The measurements of this prism ARE exactly as given by Amazon: end is 5/8" high, base is l-¼" long (and therefore, each short side is 7/8"; i.e., one long side and two equal short sides) (A refracting = equilateral prism would have ALL three equal sides). The confusion here expressed by both previous reviewers occurs, no doubt, because: 1) the Accoutrements blistercard appears to picture an equilateral prism, and 2) the prism shown to the upper right of the bald guy's head definitely shows a right-angle one (except that this one has two long sides; the one shipped from Accoutrements has two short sides). IMHO, Accoutrements is primarily to blame for this confusion (i.e., this is NOT a "refracting" prism). However, given the previous two legitimate complaints (and now mine) --- Amazon should take responsibility for correcting Accoutrements' misrepresentation in their (Amazon's) description. Richard

DO NOT BUY!!! Very dissapointed with this product which does not perform as advertized, is made out of very imperfect plastic, and most of all does not refract the light into any color spectrum. It can't be used and I have returned them with my notes to Amazon, which promptly refunded part of my payment retaining a restocking charge possibly. Simply, I lost more money on paying for shipping charges than I have recouperated from the return. I WOULD NOT BUY FROM AMAZON AGAIN, considering the agravation created. My rating is ZERO for this item.
