This prism *is* glass. I saw from the reviews of other (plastic) prisms that plastic doesn't deliver good results. This glass prism generates deep, saturated colors in the full rainbow from the split light. My nine-year-old daughter was enthralled. I expected her to enjoy the prism, since it was on her wish list, but I was surprised by how long she played with it, trying different qualities of light, indoors and out.

The glass seems to be good quality and is pretty clear. It's pretty easy to get light refractions if you hold it at the right angle.

I looked at lots of different prisms before deciding on this. One thing to know about prisms is that they take some maneuvering to achieve whatever results you have in mind. Producing a rainbow from a prism isn't as straightforward as it may seem.

The prism itself is made of glass, in comparison to plastic, which I love. I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes in the actual performance of the prism, but it is a very nice desk piece. The quality is really quite nice, but there are some very minor imperfections in the glass. Mine has one very tiny air bubble, but it in no way affects the performance in a non-laboratory setting. Overall, the production of the glass is fantastic for the price.

Bought if after seeing Sam Hurd's prisming photos. Awesome little accessory. Great optical quality. Produces nice spectrum flares and reflections. Convenient size for this kind of unconventional use.

The product was delivered to me on time in good condition, the prism is all I hoped it would be and I'm quite satisfied to have one of my own finally.

I purchased this to use with my 6th grade students. I'd been given one as a Christmas gift when I was 10, although mine was much larger. I played with my prism for countless hours for years. It's not decades later, and I still have it, in pristine condition, too.

My Alaskan students are used to so much darkness in the winter, I wanted to give them some interesting experiences with light. This prism has not disappointed me at all, and each child is thrilled to have a turn with it, looking through it and watching it break apart the light spectrum, just like I did at their age. It's been dropped accidentally by children a couple of times, but so far, it's holding up very well. No cracks or fractures.

I know nothing about prisms. That being said, this one is made of heavy glass. It's clear. And it refracts light. So I'm giving it 5 stars.
