Product Description

A truly unique kiting experience awaits with our eye-catching new Flip Kite. Based on a patented design by Steve Wingert, the Flip's rotor spins its way into the sky. Like a kaleidoscope in motion, the vivid graphics blend and blur, creating colors and patterns that can only be seen while it spins. Its easy to fly in a wide wind range, and the vertical ring acts like a stabilizing gyroscope making it rock-steady even in gusty winds. The magic of this unusual little kite will bring a smile to your face and stares of amazement wherever you fly. Rotors are one of the eight basic kite forms, yet few people have flown or even seen one. Rotors fly by spinning with the wind, achieving lift via the Magnus Effect, the same principle that gives golf balls loft and baseball pitches their curve. As the kite flies, youll feel a pulsing at the end of your line while it spins as fast as 200rpm like a mysterious, wind powered machine. Best of all, theres literally no assembly required. Just flip the stabilizing ring from flat to vertical, clip on your flying line and youre ready to go. Find a little wind, pop it open, and watch it spin as it climbs into the sky. Amazingly durable, the Flip Kite is fun and easy to fly for all ages. Comes with 200 of Dacron flying line and line winder.

This kite is really well made & looks & flies beautifully.
Katawampas
It needs a bit of wind to get going but handles gusty and even moderately strong winds well since it spins through it.

While small, this kite needs better than 12-14mph wind to loft and a hurricane is better!

Our family recently started flying kites together. We purchased 7 different kites and try a few of them together every time we go out, so we can compare how different kites do in different wind conditions. Flip Rotor kite is definitely beautiful, when we can get it to fly. So far we have only been successful once, on a very windy day at the beach. In order for this kite to fly the wind needs to be very consistent, and strong. We love this kite- it is so interesting to watch it fly- absolutely stunning. Unfortunately more often than not it stays on the ground while we fly our other ones.

My favorite kite thus far. Quite an easy flier once you get used to giving it a spin on release. It needs a bit of wind to get going but handles gusty and even moderately strong winds well since it spins through it. Utah isn't an easy place to fly but I do get this one out now and again, usually when stormy winds start. The best part is how much feedback you get on the line. It feels a lot trying to tire a big fish.

This kite is easy to launch and fly. It does need a good breeze to lift, but once it gains a decent altitude it is very easy to keep aloft. The colors are vibrant and eye catching, definitely a great beach kite!

We've tried various different kites and just have not been able to get them to fly until this one. This kite is very different and has an unusual motion while flying that makes it unique and interesting (and also makes it fly much easier than traditional kites).

We've tried so many times to fly kites on the beach with our daughter to no avail until now. If you're like us and either do poorly with kites, or haven't ever flown a kite, then this is the kite for you! Even our 5 y.o. can fly this!

Great kite - we love it!

I'm going to keep this review short. I own dozens and dozens of kites, of all varities. This kite is interesting looking and fun to watch fly, but is very picky about gusts and wind speed, so isn't a great kite to be your only kite.

Pros:
Interesting design
Fun to watch fly for a single line kite
Comes Ready to Fly
Survived more crashes than you'd think it would

Cons:
Very finnicky / limited wind window you can get it to launch in, and stay up or not collapse from too strong of winds

After two tries I was finally able to get this kite up, and what a joy!

Pros:
1) Very durable: Definitely the most well built kite I've ever owned. Feels strong even in heavy winds. It will probably last several years.
2) Eye catching: I flew this kite at a park and runners would stop and stare at this kite. People also ask where to buy it.
3) Stays up in the sky well: Due to the way the kite is designed, once it's up in the sky, it will stay there. The ring that goes around the kites stabilizes it, while the round oval inside the ring constantly generates lift. I had a simple diamond kite flying simultaneously next to it that was going all over the place, while this kite stayed put.
4) Easy to set up, then pack up: By far the easiest kite to set up and store away. All you have to do is flip the center oval so that it is perpendicular to the outside circle, attach the string and you're done! AMAZING!
5) Strong line: the flying line that this kite comes with feels a lot stronger than all the others I've used.

Cons:
1) Hard to get up into the air without sufficient wind: So far I've only flown this kite in the park. The first day the wind was less constant but I was able to get the diamond kite up, not this one (it was around 5-10 mph). On the second day, it was right after it rained so the wind was still pretty strong, I'd say around 12-20 mph. After a few tries and a bit of running, I got the kite up. The key is, if the wind isn't strong enough to make the oval spin fast, it won't be able to get enough lift.
2) It's harder to hold on to: Due to the strong winds needed and the fact that theflip kite is always spinning and creating pull, it will require a bit more strength to hang on to.

I bought this kite for a trip to the beach. Its flys in almost no wind, it just needs to be steady. I couldn't belive how well this kite worked.

This is a really neat kite. It needs a strong constant wind to stay in the air, maybe a minimum of 7-10 mph. My 6 & 7 year old kids had no problem flying this kite on the beach. I had to help them launch it, but it stayed in the air with little effort. The gyroscopic effect is very cool. The prizm of colors in fast motion draws a lot of attention for such a little kite. People were taking pictures of our kite!
