5.0 out of 5 stars A very detailed and comprehensive book, August 16, 2001

This review is from: Prism and Lens Making, Second Edition: A Textbook for Optical Glassworkers (Series in Optics and Optoelectronics) (Paperback)
This book is covering nearly every aspect about optics making: Grinding, polishing: techniques, used materials. Machines: How they work. Measuring: detailed explanation of the measuring techniques for lens and prism making. Anyone who want to make his own optics, usually telescoop builders, will find everything he need to know. Not much a theoretical book - there are many - but a very practical book. Although the book was first published in 1942 most of the techniques are still the same today.

As a professional lensmaker I can recommend it to anyone interested in these techniques.
