The box cover for Prism makes it seem too much for kids but it is actually a fun brain teaser for any age. You have to line up mirrors, light beam splitters and colored filters to direct a ray of light at a colored target set in a maze. For variety, there are several different playing modes (casual puzzling, timed, hyper, etc) but for me, the puzzles are more fun to contemplate rather than than race to solve. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is not shoot em up, Super Mario-esque fun, it is more like solving a visual soduku. I'd also give it a higher score if it used different pieces and "worlds" rather than just increasing complexity on an evolving playing field. Bottom line: The satisfaction comes from solving the brain teasers not from an adrenaline rush.

A fun and challenging puzzle game for the puzzle enthusiast.,

Prizm is a great little find for those of you who enjoy a puzzle game. Prizm features simple mechanics with a load of great content. There are tons of puzzles for the player to work through, and you'll definitely be finding yourself spending a lot of time on the last set of puzzles toward the end.
I originally bought it on sale for $9.99, but I'd still say it's worth the full retail price.

This game really makes you think and that's what I like most about it. I have seen Jr. High students play this on computers at school as a problem solving activity and thought it would be fun to have it for the kids (and me). I was not disappointed

This is one of the most unique puzzle games that I have encountered for the DS. The puzzles involve setting up prisms, light beam splitters, color filters, mirrors (which are double sided), and "cycloids" (which behave somewhat like color light valves) to direct beams of white and color light (from the "Bulboids") to the multi color "Glowbo" creatures, which must be illuminated with their own light color to be happy.
Sounds simple, but the puzzles become quite complicated as one advances, Many are very challenging... I have only made it to tier 12 (out of 15). There are several different modes of play, some are against time, while others allow as long as one needs for "head scratching". There are also multiplayer (wireless) modes. This game may not offer the "fun appeal" of a Mario-style game, but it has provided me with many hours of entertainment. For the price (under 10 bucks, when I bought it), it is a bargain!

Challenging Puzzles to Figure Out,

Your goal is to connect movable white light sources with white and colored light receptacles that are embedded on the edge of the playing field. To do this, you place various filters, mirrors and splitters. There are four modes: Puzzle: The main mode gives you 120 puzzles that you solve at your leisure. As the core puzzle idea of this game is simple it starts off easy, but by the later levels it will become quite difficult. The levels rise in difficulty very linearly with each level being just slightly harder than the previous one. Time: You need to solve a set of 10 randomly-generated puzzles that range in difficulty from 1 to 10 under a certain time in order to unlock the next set of 10 that will range in difficulty from 11 to 20. You can do this all way till the hardest ones at Level 100. Once you unlock a set, you can start there next time you play. Hyper: As new receptacles are constantly being added, you have to connect your light sources with them as soon as possible or the receptacles will explode. As this mode tests your reflexes, it has the same sets of light sources, screens and splitters for each level. Infinite: You start at a level-one difficulty puzzle and progress as far as you can with no time pressure. The puzzles for each level of difficulty are newly created each time you play. Additional Comments: This is one of my favorite DS games. I really enjoyed its challenge. I have played many puzzle games on the DS now and I would say this is one of the most difficult. The only thing I didn't like about it was that after you solve a puzzle in the main mode, it goes quickly back to puzzle selection screen without giving you enough time to study(or marvel at!) the solution you just figured so hard to come up with.

A very interesting game!,

I put off buying this game for a while, and I'm sorry that I did. It's a great puzzle game! What's most interesting to me is that often I will solve one of the levels without quite knowing how I actually did it. It's as though there's some kind of subconscious creativity going on in my brain that this game taps into. This hasn't happened to me with other puzzle games and it's a strange but cool feeling.
My only complaint so far is that when you solve a level, the screen clears after a few seconds -- sometimes I'd just like to admire it for a bit! I haven't found a way to stop this yet.

This game isn't a white knuckle shoot-em-up by any stretch of the imagination, but it is very addictive. The first few levels are pretty easy but then they start making you have to really think to solve the puzzles. I like it...

I got through half the puzzles before I got stumped. There are 100 to chose from, so there are plenty to play. But you may be disappointed if you want a lot of play time. I really enjoyed the art, the controls worked well, and the puzzle was interesting.

I was originally introduced to Aargon on my palm. This seemed like an alternative for the DS for my kids. And it is a reasonable facsimile. They enjoy it.
