This was a gift for my niece to go with a set of Manga "how to draw" books. I could not afford the pencils after purchasing the books so my Mother chipped in for the pencils and now she is the heroine. My niece said that they make all the difference in her renditions of the Manga characters. I have to agree having grown up on the characters on the Saturday cartoons. The books were only part of the equation. I thought these colored pencils were pricey until I saw my niece's first attempts and they are the perfect colors for the characters. The pencils bring the characters to life on the paper. The pencils are of excellent quality and are long lasting so--worth the money. The colors are special to Manga characters and not like those you could find for substantially less money. The continued enjoyment my niece gets from her Christmas present now that it is Valentine's Day--justifies the expense of the pencils. My mother is happy to have found the "it" gift.

I've been looking for a set of colored pencils with some flesh tones, and other soft colors. I'm not a manga artist (or much of any other kind of artist), but I enjoy coloring and crafts. I have a lot of Prismacolor pencils and the quality is always outstanding. This set has the exact colors I was looking for. The Verithin pencils come in handy also. Mostly dark colors. But even these blend nicely, and don't look harsh or scratchy. I would definitely recommend this set, or any other Prismacolor set. I would also recommend the Prismacolor Scholar series of colored pencils for those who want Prismacolor quality, but don't want to spend too much. A little more expensive than generic colored pencils, but a world apart in quality.

Since my dream is to become a mangaka artist, I got these pencils. I love the look to the pencils give on paper. Prismacolor pencils are easier to work with and are better than Crayola if doing professional work. Although, with every good product there is the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Good:
-Colors blend nicely
-White Colored pencil shows up (On paper and other colors)
-The Pencils are soft (Easier to color with)
-Clear, concise colors, they can go from dark to light
-Longer lasting time (If you color about 4 times a week they'll last about 2.5 months)

Bad:
-Not all the pencils are sharpened when ordered
-Only about 15 pencils
-Colors can't be shown over inks

Ugly:
-Don't sharpen as well (Only the pink/violet colors)

I'm finding myself to re-ink my pictures quite a bit. OR to prevent re-inking, just use the black pencil as the outliner (It works just as well if sharpened)Blending is still amazing, I'd recommend getting the Prismacolor blender pencil for better results if you desire to blend.

The colors are so much more vibrant and richer than Crayola. You can get different shades of color depending on hard or light you write with these pencils, even if you color hard the leads are strong. Each color offers about three shades depending on hard you write (light, medium, and dark). The colors that come with this is perfect for creating Manga characters and environments such as towns or forests so they're not just for Manga. They come sharpened so when you buy them you can get straight to work in coloring in your art.

WARNING!
You may have heard that you can put Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils in the microwave to melt the core so when you sharpen them the lead won't keep breaking. DO NOT put these pencils in a microwave for that. I tried it and the pencil popped, Never again will I try that. I suggest putting them in sunlight on in front on a heater for a short period of time. Good luck with your art!

These are... amazing! XD

Though at first it may seem awkward to hold a pencil with a thicker point- once you get used to it, which doesn't take very long, they are incredible.

These are... SO undeniably better than crayolas, or other brands like those. If you press harder, the color's darker. If you don't press much, it's light. They can be blended a little to make a new color, too!

I will definitely be buying more of these when my current box runs out- because these pencils are SUPERB! :D

I have used the Prismacolor family of colored pencils in many art projects throughout middle school, high school and college. They are of very high quality but they need to be taken care of in a certain manner. The cores of the pencils are soft and extremely fragile. The user should avoid causing shock to the core or it will most likely shatter upon impact, preventing further sharpening to get a nice sharp tip. This has made me cautious of ordering these online because of how the shipper may handle the package. The first one I got came in good condition so far. No broken cores yet.

They are amazing. they work wonders and are easy to use. They came In a Clear bagcase thing so i could tell they hadn't been opened and were new. All 18 of the Soft Core Coloured Pencils Are already sharpened. But the 5 Verithin Coloured pencils are not sharpened, im not fussed though. i prefer if they wernt sharpened cause all their used for is outlining and details like eye lashes and so on.(they sharpen to a fine point. they are perfect and are well worth the cash :) highly recommended to anyone who wants to draw manga (even if you dont draw manga). i dont see any faults about these pencils. :)
