I bought these as a stocking stuffer for my 2nd grader last year.

We love prismacolor pencils because they apply awesome color without heavy pressing. Great for artwork, crafts, and make vibrant shrinky dinks/ shrink art.

The only problem with this set is that while sharpening, many pencils had the lead repeatedly break and needed to be sharpened again and again until the point didn't break and fall off. (On one pencil, we sharpened half of the pencil before we could use it for the first time) We tried many different sharpeners, but the resulting breakage was the same.

Recently, I asked my daughter if she wanted me to re-order a set, noting the breakage. She said yes- that all of her friends at school wanted to use her pencils "all of the time" because they color so easy and the colors are great.

So--I can forgive the breakage for the quality of colors and the fact that my daughter isn't bothered by the sharpening time she puts in. Perhaps the leads are so soft to get good color transfer that they cause the breakage from being a little weak? The color and performance are amazing. The review would be a perfect 5 if the leads were more durable.
