One of the best shows on fox,

Prison Break season 3 starts off after what happened at the end of season 2.
Michael is in Sona, one of the hardest, toughest, prisons in the world. He was brought there by "The Company" to break someone else out of prison. This season shows this from beginning to end. Sadly, this show was still getting worked on during the writers strike, because of this we only have 13 episodes. But those 13 episodes shine, they shine really bright. Each episode leaves you at the end dying to know what is going to happen next. When this season was airing, because of the strike, I was unable to view the season in its entirety due to the schedule being moved around constantly, I was never able to keep track on the last few episodes. So when I picked this up on blu-ray, I was eagerly awaiting my chance to finish watching this season. Even though I have previously seen the first few episodes of this season, it did not stop me from being completely engrossed and hooked on each and every episode. I noticed more stuff than I did the first time through when it aired. This season is brutal, it does not let up. The show looks amazing, the flashbacks especially. The image is picture sharp, better than season 1, and very sharp throughout. It looks better than most movies, and I would rather watch season 3 of Prison Break than most any movie any day. The price may seem high, but your getting what would amount to 6 movies, when you look at it that way, it is quite cheap. This show is much better than most movies, and well worth the time and price. I highly recommend this purchase. Overall Rating - 5/5 Stars Video - 5/5 Audio - 5/5 Bonus - 4/5 Story - 5/5

If you are into brutal action, seat-of-your-pants suspense, unexpected twists and turns every 5 or 10 minutes, get this set, block a couple of weekend nights and watch it. My wife and I couldn't stop watching. In fact, we gobbled up all 13 episodes over 2 nights and, when it was all over, we felt like we wanted more.
Michael is a different man in Season 3. Now, he is physically exhausted and emotionally drained, not sick but definitely tired. In Season 1, he generally knew what and whom he was facing; it was he who decided who were his friends, his allies, his enemies. He had studied their biographies and he was totally familiar with the environment and he knew exactly what to expect. He had a well-thought plan and he was implementing it. In 'Season 2' he was still following the plan but his control was slipping. By 'Season 3', he has to live with the consequences of his actions - people have died, people got hurt and more are dying and are getting hurt as the tale is told - and he is trying to make sense of his immediate environment (the prison) and those who are pulling the strings and seem to be in control (the Company). We see him tired, desperate, remorseful, doubting himself, sometimes unable or simply refusing to make sense of it all and yet hopeful, seeking some balance between the brutal world in which he has to survive and his desperate struggle to preserve his humanity. This is the most testosterone-oozing, adrenalin-laced, action-packed TV show - and I could include 'movie' - I've seen in a long time and, possibly of all times. Think 'The Dirty Dozen' or 'The Great Escape' on steroids and uninhibited. I am not going to give away any spoilers but, if you are going to watch this set, be prepared to for male bonding, explosive violence, brutality (they are not the same), torture (yes, waterboarding too), betrayal, barehanded fights to the death, stabbings, humiliation, sewer-level filth, desperation, blackmail, blood, mud, sweat, deception, mystery, misery, beheadings, execution-style killings, loyalty, fear, starvation, drug addiction, sweat, pain, just to name a few of the included attractions. You are NOT going to see: romantic kisses, bedroom scenes, shower scenes, sensitive metro-sexuals, preaching feminists, starry nights, fast cars, swimming pools or electronic gadgets. Off the 4 women of this season we have one that's dead, a desperate prostitute, an absolute evil (but super-great looking) gargoyle and a naive but not exactly a shrinking violet, betrayed, girlfriend. I am not trying to even begin to portray 'the men'. - The pluses - see above. - The minuses - since we never 'watch TV', we are going to have to wait for one full year before we can lay our hands on 'season four'.

This was a great season with new characters that were nice additions to the cast. Unfortunately the writers strike prevented a complete season and there are only about half as many episodes as there should be. Fortunately the manufacturers didn't rob consumers of their right to pay for a full season.
If I'd have paid half price for this half season I'd have given five stars.

Another Great Season,

To start, I'd like to mention that this season is only 13 episodes, due to the writers' strike. That being said, I actually think it's still on par with the previous two seasons. Some say it seemed a little rushed but I actually think it may have been a bit too much to have an entire 22 or 23 episode season of breaking out of a prison in Panama that only has guards on the outside. They do a great job once again of keeping you on the edge of your seat with this one.
A lot more is revealed about "The Company" and the massive conspiracy, and of course, Burrows and Scofield find themselves neck deep in it. Some old faces and new alike with Scofield continuing to outsmart pretty much everyone makes this another satisfying and addictive season of Prison Break.

It seems like this show just keeps getting better! Jodi Lynn O'Keefe gets thrown into the Prison Break mix this season, and I think she's a great addition to the cast. I'm watching Season 4 right now, and it's even better than Season 3!

I heard people say Prison Break Season 3 isn't too great. However, after watching it, I have to say that it is pretty good. It isn't quite as good as the first season, but it has its exciting parts :)

As with seasons one and two, this season truly does not disappoint. It picks right up where the second season stopped and continues until the 13th and final episode of season three. I believe that Prison Break is truly right up there with Lost and Heroes as being one of the best shows on television. With season four debuting on Sept 1st, do not hesitate to pick this one up. The HD video and audio are out of this world! Highly Recommended.

I remain a true believer in Prison Break. However, as season 3 unfolded late last year and early this year, I admit I was disappointed. Twists became predicable. Even lame. The setting was boring, seemingly trying to put the proverbial cat back into the bag in sending Michael back to prison albeit in Panama this time. This is a development that feels like after season 2 the writers just didn't have the ideas to keep the show running after two brilliant seasons.
Prison Break has provided some of the most genuinely thrilling hours ever generated by a TV show, in my opinion. While most everything about the show has always been far fetched, there was a pace, intelligence and charm that never let you dwell on that fact. While season 3 hung on to much of the series' attractive qualities, it ultimately folded under its own weight, its plot becoming simply too ridiculous and its characters less compelling. I won't spoil any of the season's big twists. But I will say that an unexpected loss of one of the show's main players hamstrung the show for several episodes going into the season while the producers and writers struggled with out to handle the loss. There are scenes where a stand in is used for the character and you can't see (the character's) face and a voice over is used, which clearly didn't belong to the original actor. While not the fault of the show, itself surprised by the absence of the actor, the problem was distracting and the solutions unsatisfying. The biggest sin this season is the location itself. The new prison promises to be a cross between Escape from New York and Dante's Inferno where the patients run the asylum, yet never truly comes off as anything more than a standard movie cliche. I still love Prison Break. I watched every episode of season 3 while it aired hoping every week the writers would turn it around. Sucre and T-Bag remained great to watch. Michael remained a solid protagonist while Linc fair less well, seeming to struggle for a reason to even be on the show any longer. This goes for Brad Bellick, too, who has simply become comic relief while rarely being funny and a go to man for putting unnecessary wrinkles in the shows plots. A whole lot of unnecessary this year. Viewers new to the show obviously should get season 1 and 2. Fans looking for a fix clearly will buy season 3 regardless of my review. But my feeling is that one could skip season 3 and patiently wait to see if season 4 (said to be the last while it becomes a revenge show) brings the series back to all the vitality displayed in its first two seasons. The one plot development in season 3 (regarding the missing actor) is rumored to be going through a reversal in season 4 with the actor's and character's apparent return. |
