5.0 out of 5 stars An Unlikely Viewer - Love the Show - Hate the Show November 27, 2011

First of all, I'm probably one of the most unlikely viewers ever to love this show. I've always been a bit of an animal lover but have never really understood the issues surrounding pit bulls until recently. I found a starved, hairless, pathetic dog with a broken ankle, broken rib and very ill. I knew he was some type of pit mix but he was so thin it was hard to tell what he actually looked like. What amazed me most was how affectionate and loving this dog was - despite a state of near starvation, he sought out affection as much as food.

In the process of learning all I could in order to help rehab this poor little dog, I came across several references to the work Tia Maria Torres is doing along with some clips of the show. Along the way, I've also learned the harsh realities of a world that frankly, I've known little about...the world of dog fighting, hunting and the terrible abuse and neglect these animals are subjected to on such frequent basis.

This show is informative, educational and shows the power of one person to make a difference in the lives of other people and other creatures without the hooopla, fanfare or Hollywood style BS. I wish there wasn't a need for this but I'm glad there are those out there able to handle the harsh realities of life...for those such as myself that tend to live in a very nice, safe and comfortable environment - it's a real eye opener. A very uncomfortable one but a heavy dose of reality never hurt anyone and has the opportunity to do a great deal of good.

In a strange way, this show is one of the most uplifting and positive out there - yes, the pitbulls are tragic and so are some of the people involved. Yes, there should never be a need for this in the first place but the fact that there is...and there are people out there making a difference is encouraging.

Bottom line - a surprisingly terrific show. One that I would never in a million years have considered watching if not for a desperate search for answers about my new little friend who was in such need of help.

Tia and her crew do great things for an amazing breed of dogs. I can only hope that her message gets through and they get some huge donations. If I were rich I'd get her a million! Thank you Tia!
