Book Description

Prisoner Collection December 9, 2003

Every day in The Village is just like every other. There's the beach and the theatre, and the tennis court . . . and the mysterious underground chamber where every move is watched. In this sinister wonderland for those who know too much ever to know freedom, the average day is just a trip to the grocer's, a conversation with a Number . . . and a chance to escape. . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS NOT A NEW "PRISONER" NOVEL, January 30, 2004
By
This review is from: The Prisoner: A Day In The Life (Prisoner Collection) (Paperback)
but is a reprint of the work first published in the early 80's. In my opinion, of the three original Prisoner novels that were published, this is the best and the only one that captures the feel of the television series on paper.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just plain bad, September 22, 2005
This review is from: The Prisoner: A Day In The Life (Prisoner Collection) (Paperback)
I like the Prisoner. I can even say that I love it. This is why it hurts me to say that this book is just wrong. It breaks one of the two primary rules of the show. The first rule is that we NEVER learn why Number 6 resigned. The second is that we NEVER learn his real name.
This book broke that second rule in more than one place. He described his name as being the British equivilent to "John Doe". He was called John by his 'fiancee'. Finally he was called Drake by the Field Marshal. For those unaware, John Drake was another spy character played by Patrick McGoohan and McGoohan made every effort in the production of The Prisoner to never make a direct connection between the two characters. It was always implied, but never stated. For an author to state this is just wrong.
