It's About Time!,
By Gary W. Ramey (Tehachapi, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prisoner of Love (Audio CD)
As Ray stated when he finally made it into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1956 "It's About Time" - I feel the same about this CD! We've waited for 2 years to see it finally released and it is NOT a disapointment! Ray Price once again proves he can sing any song and make it sound like he was the original! There has never been a voice in country music that can compare to his. Even at age 74 his compelling renditions of such standards as "Fly Me To The Moon", "Beautiful World", "Body and Soul" and the title cut "Prisoner of Love" are simply Ray Price at his best! I personally have loved hearing Ray perform "18 Again" over the past several years & treasure the fact that I now have this "Ray Price" song in my collection. Do not call this a "country" recording, just call it a great recording by a great artist! Thanks Ray for continuing your pursuit of the best in music!

The voice like vintage wine,
By Sandra Orwig (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prisoner of Love (Audio CD)
Ray Price never has a bad record and this one is long over due. The man is singing better then ever and his heart and soul can be felt in every word. Listen to If Its Love and the great new arrangement on Soft Rain which was self-penned by this legend. Some great new arrangements on a lot of the songs of the past and a couple of new ones. Eighteen Again seems to tell it all. This should be a must for any new or old Ray Price fan. He never sang better. You can feel what he is saying in every song and in every line. This CD is not really that much different then the styles of the 70's but the arrangements and the artist make them real. Sit back and enjoy the great Ray Price the Master of song

THE VERY BEST,

It doesn't matter what he does and when he does it and where he does it, it's the very best. He should have been in the Hall of Fame the first year when it was established along with his early boss, Hank Williams. As well as a lot of others. They should just induct as many as it takes each year to get all of the OLD TRUE COUNTRY MUSIC PERFORMERS INTO IT. If they have 25 years of being great musicians and singers and performers they should be in the hall of fame. If they have more than twenty five years, it should be fancied up somehow or other. And if they've been performing as long as Willie, Ray and Merle and others, they should get gold medals to hang around the statues or whatever it is they get. Let me run that place awhile. He oughta be inducted again for LONGEVITY while he's still around to enjoy it. I've been listening to him from when he was with Hank Williams at least, because I sure did listen to Hank Williams a lot. Country and Western music was all we had to listen to in my little home town.
