5.0 out of 5 stars Three Classic Prisoner Novels in One Volume, September 16, 2009
This review is from: Prisoner Omnibus (Hardcover)
The Prisoner Omnibus contains the three Prisoner Novels that appeared in 1968-1970 originally from Ace Books:

The Prisoner by Thomas Disch

Number Two by David McDaniel

A Day in the Life by Hank Stein

All three books have their good points and interesting plots. The first two books are sequential, while the third somewhat stands on its own.

The original out-of-print mass-market paperback novels can be found online for $20-$40 each, but since these are 40 years old, they inevitably have yellow-brown pages instead of white. The advantage of The Prisoner Omnibus (also out-of-print) is that it was published in 2002 and still looks great. If you enjoyed seeing the series - or just have discovered it -- this is a great way to experience more of the Prisoner through these three novels in one large format paper edition.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hey! It is the Prisoner., October 12, 2011

This review is from: Prisoner Omnibus (Hardcover)
These are the 3 novels from the sixties based on the show. I enjoyed them and wanted them in my collection of all things Prisoner.
They have a very 60's feel to them and that will add to the nostalgia for the older fans. The novel by Disch has always been a cause of conversation when fans meet over whether or not he was writing a Prisoner novel or just went off on his own with the series as a background for his own take on society at that time.
The other 2 are more straight forward and all are worth the read.
If you like the Prisoner than having the Omnibus will add to the enjoyment you get from the show. The description says hardcover mine was soft trade paperback.
