Book Description

September 15, 2005
Rachel Windover is in Venice with her parents. She's supposed to be on vacation. So far the airline has lost her luggage, she has fallen out of a gondola in the middle of a scenic cruise, and now she has this churning sensation in the pit of her stomach; it's the feeling she gets when something is about to go really wrong. They should never have gone into that souvenir shop. Then her father wouldn't have gone all glassy eyed and goofy after meeting Lilah, the hauntingly beautiful owner. He wouldn't have ordered dozens of her strange souvenirs for his shop back home, and Rachel's mother wouldn't have disappeared. Now Rachel must deal with the horrible secret inside one of the souvenirs. It is a secret that forces her to embark on a journey that will take her and her best friend Sam halfway around the world and under it, into a realm swarming with sea witches and dark magic. But there's an even deeper magic waiting in the caverns beneath the sea. It could bring her powers she never imagined. It could bring back her mother. It could restore all the prisoners under glass. All she has to do is survive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prisoners Under Glass RULES!, November 14, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
Well, I am a very picky 6th grade reader. I only like the suspenseful, well written, contemporary fantasy books, like Harry Potter and Wrinkle in Time. But, when combining all these attributes, only 1 book comes to mind. Prisoners Under Glass was wonderfully written by the author R. Patrick. I have just finished the last page, and I am very sad that I have read the entire book so quickly. I am wondering if there will be more books, even if they are from a different series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prisoners Under Glass- An exciting and satisfying read!!, November 12, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
I am a 6th grader and an avid reader. Prisoners Under Glass is an exciting read from a new author. R. Patrick paints a vivid picture of the events using mere words. This book has magic, adventure, excitement, suspense, and peril in it- all things I look for in a good book. I finished the last page wishing only for a sequel!!

This story has the magic of the Harry Potter series, the adventure and excitement of the Redwall series, and yet stands alone, unopposed in my mind. I have read many, many books, and this one is definitely in my top ten!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LIKED THE BOOK!, December 4, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
This book is SUPER interesting. You can't put it down. It should be for 4th graders and up unless you are ready for a challenge. It's about a girl named Rachel Windover whose mother dissappeared and father is in a love trance from a shop owner name Lilah. Lilah sells souvenirs that force Rachel to embark on a journey, causing her to fight and defeat sea witches and dark magic. If you are interested in dark magic and witches then why not read this book?
