Prisoners Under Glass RULES!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
Well, I am a very picky 6th grade reader. I only like the suspenseful, well written, contemporary fantasy books, like Harry Potter and Wrinkle in Time. But, when combining all these attributes, only 1 book comes to mind. Prisoners Under Glass was wonderfully written by the author R. Patrick. I have just finished the last page, and I am very sad that I have read the entire book so quickly. I am wondering if there will be more books, even if they are from a different series.

Prisoners Under Glass- An exciting and satisfying read!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
I am a 6th grader and an avid reader. Prisoners Under Glass is an exciting read from a new author. R. Patrick paints a vivid picture of the events using mere words. This book has magic, adventure, excitement, suspense, and peril in it- all things I look for in a good book. I finished the last page wishing only for a sequel!!This story has the magic of the Harry Potter series, the adventure and excitement of the Redwall series, and yet stands alone, unopposed in my mind. I have read many, many books, and this one is definitely in my top ten!!!

I LIKED THE BOOK!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
This book is SUPER interesting. You can't put it down. It should be for 4th graders and up unless you are ready for a challenge. It's about a girl named Rachel Windover whose mother dissappeared and father is in a love trance from a shop owner name Lilah. Lilah sells souvenirs that force Rachel to embark on a journey, causing her to fight and defeat sea witches and dark magic. If you are interested in dark magic and witches then why not read this book?

You might plan on buying this book with your teenagers in mind, but I'm willing to bet you'll end up reading it and loving it, too. We all need a great adventure once in a while, to re-connect us with the magic inside that we could access more easily as children. This book offers what I expected and more. A captivating story well told, with lots of suspense, surprising twists and turns, and young heros that young readers, both female and male, can relate to. The setting is rooted enough in reality so kids can identify, yet departs into a fantasy world which sets the imagination soaring. As an adult, what I appreciated in particular was the sub-text.Kids are given an empowering message. They are acknowledged for having challenges in their own lives, which require that they face their fears and grow beyond them by courageous action. They are told that they matter, and that they are often a "life saving" gift to their parents.

A suspenseful adventure recommended for all ages,

Prisoners Under Glass is a suspenseful young adult fantasy novel about Rachel, a girl who experiences disaster after a Venice vacation with her parents. Her father seems captivated by a bewitching shop owner, buying dozens of souvenirs, and her mother goes missing. Along with her best friend Sam, Rachel must embark on a harrowing quest across and beneath the surface of the world, into the dark realm of sea witches and sinister magic. In the caverns beneath the sea lie a secret with the potential to bestow unimaginable power, or free prisoners hidden under the glass... if Rachel can only survive long enough to discover it. A suspenseful adventure recommended for all ages.

The perfect fantasy!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
Prisoners Under Glass is the ideal adventure story for readers of all ages. I have been a huge Harry Potter fan for years, but it is clear to me now that R. Patrick's amazing ability to take everything you've ever wanted in a story and so flawlessly put it into the pages of this wonderful book makes Hogwarts seem dull and drab. Whether you love lively fantasy adventures, poetic descriptions of faraway lands, or flowing dialogue, this epic tale will bring you tears of joy. This is, without a doubt, the greatest story I have ever had the pleasure to read.

modern twist on a fairy tale,
This review is from: Prisoners Under Glass (Paperback)
Prisoners Under Glass has all the makings of a modern fairy tale adventure. It even features an evil stepmother, witches, and romantic locations. Readers will become enamoured by the strength of the young heroine and the knowledge that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things.

I totally enjoyed this story. I would buy this book for children ages 10+. Older teens and adults may also enjoy this adventurous fairy tale/fantasy. Great job R. Patrick! I'll be looking for a sequel.
