The degree and nature of the protection of personal information and data continues to evolve in OECD countries. This report describes privacy and data protection developments in OECD countries as well as international trends. In particular, different types of national self-regulatory schemes are considered along with the regulation of international data transfers. The report also provides a brief review of the "OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data" as well as the text of these guidelines.
