I would not recommend this shredder-especially if you're purchasing it to protect yourself against identify theft, which was my main reason for buying it.

So, why not buy it? It only shreds the piece of paper up to 90% of the way through, leaving the remaining 10% in tact. What's the point of using a shredder if the entire sheet isn't shredded? Anyone could easily pull the paper out of the dumpster and tape the end strips back together. Plus, the strips aren't as narrow as I hoped for. There were a few receipts that I had to shred back and forth, pulling it in and out of the shredder to shred the card numbers. Finally, I just gave up and ended up burning my receipts. It was a lot faster!

So, don't end up like me... Spend your money on something better.

THIS IS MY VERY FIRST AT HOME PAPER SHREDDER. I NEEDED ONE THAT WOULD SHRED A LOT OF SHEETS AT ONCE. THIS ONE IS FOR 12 SHEETS AT A TIME. THAT'S A LOT--REALLY GREAT. I HAD MOUNTAINS OF PAPERS PACKRATTED AT HOME FOR 50 YEARS. REALLY NEEDED TO CLEAN OUT THE HOUSE. STILL WORKING ON IT AFTER A YEAR WIH THIS MACHINE.

THIS MACHINE REALLY GETS THE JOB DONE. I COULDN'T PUSSYFOOT AROUND COUNTING ONLY 6 MEASLY SHEETS AT THE MOST, LIKE THE OTHER SHREDDERS HAVE A LIMIT ON. I NEEDED SOMETHING WHERE I COULD GRAB A BIG BUNCH OF PAPERS AT A TIME AND "LET 'ER RIP!!!" AND THIS REALLY DID THE TRICK.

YOU MUST READ INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. ABSOLUTELY NO STAPES OR GLUE OR SCOTCH TAPE.

I DO DO ENVELOPES THAT HAVE A GLUE SURFACE- NO PROBLEM.

I DONT DO CREDIT CARDS AS I REALLY WANT TO PRESERVE THE EFFICIENCY OF THIS UNIT.

I TRUELY AND HONESTLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT FOR LARGE QUANTITIES OF PAPER SHREDDING.

ONLY PROBLEM: IT DOES GET STUCK ON--ON WHEN YOU OVERUSE IT. JUST RUN UP AND DOWN TO CLEAR IT OUT AND IF IT DOESNT STOP--VERY IMPORTANT----UNPLUG FIRST--AS YOU DONT WANT TO CUT OR ELECTRICUTE YOURSELF-- AND CLEAN OUT THE CUTTERS--REALLY EASY TO DO!!! THEN CONTINUE WITH YOUR CUTTING.

ALSO IMPORTANT--IF YOU HAVE LONG HAIR, KEEP IT OUT OF THE WAY OF THE MACHINE. ALSO IF YOU HAVE PETS OR CHILDREN OR EVEN IF YOU DONT, UNPLUG THE MACHINE AFTER EACH USE OR IF YOU WALK AWAY FROM IT. DO NOT KEEP IT PLUGGED IN. IT WILL STAY ON AND IF YOU FORGET YOU MAY HAVE AN ACCIDENT WITH IT.

OTHER THAN THAT, IT IS SO WONDERFUL TO HAVE A SHREDDER THAT WILL CUT SO MANY SHEETS--12 SHEETS-- AT A TIME. IF YOU ARE SHREDDING A HUGE NUMBER OF SHEETS WHO THE HECK WILL HAVE THE TIME TO GO THROUGH A HUGE MOUNTAIN OF SHREDDED PAPERS TO LOOK FOR YOUR IDENTITY.

I'VE HAD IT OVER A YEAR AND A HALF, AND IT STILL WORKS LIKE IT IS BRAND NEW.
