Buzzy Linhart was and is one of the overlooked greats of the 60's. He had an original way of playing guitar, played vibes (with Hendrix on Cry of Love), had a great original (best rock and soul yodeler I ever heard) voice and wrote timeless great songs. I think he's still out there but needs some support. I played a couple of very disorganized gigs with Buzzy around 8 years ago and though the gigs were pretty bad, the man still writes plays and sings like a demon. If you ever catch up with him , ask him to sing you Tears of Sand-I guarantee, you'll be floored. Buy this CD but better yet demand some label record this mad genius before its too late. He wont make any money from the sale of this cause his record company ripped him off badly but maybe some attention will get him into a studio with some kind of record deal. The guys an American treasure, find out and help him before it's too late.

Buzzy is a guy who never attained the heights of recognition that he was due. The man is a musical genius and I will never tire of this album. My 15 year son is turned on to the Buzman and has passed it along to most of his friends......they seem to gravitate to Cheat-Cheat lie. Buzzy, come on back to life baby!

Long Live Buzzy,

My friends and I grew up listening to Edgar and Johnny Winter, Little Feat and Springsteen. Than my older brother turned us on to Buzzy! "PussyCats Can Go Far" will live forever! We are all waiting for the day that Buzzy's work will be re-released. I have recently found a Buzzy Web site and hope that his good health returns. I want to thank Amazon for their part in keeping his work "alive" and for the customers that shared their memories.

And right now he needs all our support. Let's all pray for his health. The glaucoma is the least of it, unfortunately.Sept. 12, 1998: Singer-songwriter Buzzy Linhart, a glaucoma patient who says "I would be blind without marijuana," is busted and jailed in Berkeley for cultivation of 12 plants in his backyard. A neighbor's complaint about some kids trying to cut through their yards brought the police, who reviewed his bona fide doctor's recommendation, helped him bring the plants indoors, and left. Sept. 13, 1998: An ambitious Berkeley cop obtains a warrant to search Buzzy Linhart's house by failing to inform a judge of her fellow officers' conclusions. His plants plus small amounts of processed mj and hash are confiscated, and he is arrested. [Linhart wrote Bette Midler's first big hit, "Friends."] Jan. 14, 1999: Charges against Buzzy Linhart are dismissed by a Berkeley DA, setting up a Brown motion for return of the confiscated marijuana and a civil suit against the Berkeley police...

(A simple aside...) In 1968 A good friend sang a mixture of Willie Jean/Eleanor Rigby and I fell through the floor. Then we went up to his room and he put Buzzy Linharts first ablum on an old beat up RCA record player. On side one was "Step Into My Wildest Dreams", "Wish I Could Find", "Yellow Cab", (yep, that Yellow Cab), and this blues crusher "Willie Jean" -- A line..."And ya know sometimes, I think about the folks back home, About the 12 mile road where I used to roam. And sometimes I think about Little Willie Jean, and I wonder did she ever get as far as New Orleans..." Summer has never been the same. Side two had two songs; "End Song" and "Sing Joy" an 18:39 minute sitar laced tabla based mantra which opened a couple holes in my head with Big Jim Sullivan on the sitar. I still have this album and drag it's scratched up ole self out every now and again. And then came "The time to live is now" and I was surprised by the change. I'll have to give it another listen...but while you're pressurin' record company folks to reissue, bug them about Phillips -- PHS600-291

Buzzy's albums are hard to find, I consider this one of the best of the bunch. The title song is a great one and Buzzy's version of his hit "Friends" is on this album. "Cheat-cheat lied" will blow you away and "Good face" is a crack up.
