Reece Corbett has inherited a home and a men's club (strip joint) from her savior, Frankie. She works to run a good club with top of the line entertainment and a safe environment for all.

When her friend, Cori, brings in a Faith Ashford to interview as a bartender, the sparks fly between Faith and Reece. Oh yeah, there's an attraction, but there's also a push/pull attitude going on. They both pull each other in and then push each other apart for different reasons.

When Faith can't stand the pushing, which Reece is getting really go at any longer, she starts her own private dance which sends Reece over the edge.

This is a "HOT" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sizzling hot, April 19, 2010
This review is from: Private Dancer (Paperback)
Reece Corbett has a troubled past. She inherits a gentleman's club. She likes to protect her girls and has a soft spot for Cori, a freaky dancer.
Faith Ashford had a privileged lifestyle growing up. She leaves it all to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress.
Faith is down on her luck when she meets Cori, who in turn gets her a job in Reece's club. When Reece and Faith meet, there is an immediate attraction between them. But for different reasons, they won't act on it.
This was a really great book with a touch of humor throughout. It's also so hot it's sizzling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not `War and Peace,' But Well Worth Reading, July 11, 2006

Vertigo's `Private Dancer' is an enjoyable, light read with interesting characters and an engaging plot. However, it's not the kind of book one should read when looking for a thought-provoking story.

Reese Corbett, a dark and private woman who owns and operates a Gentleman's Club, doesn't want love in her life. In fact, she's perfectly happy protecting the girls who work for her and enjoying frequent sexual encounters with strangers. In walks aspiring and struggling actress Faith Ashford. By insisting on following her dreams, Faith was disowned by her wealthy family and is finding it difficult to make ends meet. That is, until she takes a job as a bartender at Reese's club.

Integral to the relationship is another employee of the Club - Cori. Cori is as wild as they come. She changes her hair color as often as she changes her underwear, has piercings in places better left unpierced, and is secretly in love with Reese. That doesn't stop her from playing matchmaker and subsequent peeping Tom.

The relationship between these three women is sometimes strained, but often a little crazy. The mere idea of a lesbian owning and operating a Gentleman's Club is wild in and of itself. Add to that a straight bartender who goes nuts with the lesbian in bed, and you've got a great little ditty.

The book is pure formula with a good dose of comic relief, and it's well worth reading. Recommended to enjoy with a frosty mug and your favorite brew... while wishing you had someone to accompany you to the bar where you could meet one of these characters.
