This is the 11th story in the Barone series and is the story of Claudia Barone. When her family is the victim of several sabatoge attempts against their gelato company, they start blaming their arch-rivals the Conti's whom they believe have placed a curse on their family. Sal Conti hires his former son in law turned private detective, Ethan Mallory to investigate a fire at the Baronessa plant. The Conti's are tired of being blamed for all the wrongdoing and want the real culprit caught and brought to light. The Barone's are suspicious of the private detective and decide that the only way they'll let him investigate their plant and employees is to have a family member follow him around. That family member is Claudia Barone. Claudia is a tall, willowy blond who has had trouble in the romance department, she believes she is too dominant and not feminine enough and that's why her boyfriends leave. She is instantly attracted to Ethan Mallory but believes she can control her feelings, she must concentrate on helping her family. Ethan is not happy to have Claudia tagging along, investigations can get dangerous and he suspects her brother Derrick might be involved. He is instantly attracted to Claudia but is afraid to get involved with an elite again. Ethan and Claudia finally let their emotions overtake them and become involved but the investigation may complicate their relationship.

This is an okay story, but the characters are kind of blah and not the most exciting. It doesn't quite rate as good as Alexander or Gina's stories but if you're reading the series you'll still want to read this one because it explains a lot about the sabatoges.
