Private Games Is A Blast,
By
This review is from: Private Games (Paperback)
Tawny Taylor is one of those erotic writers that makes me want to take mental notes for the bedroom. In these three stories, Ms. Taylor explores some hot ideas that were really fun. The stories all center around a new board game with "challenges" that lead her main characters into all sorts of situations and eventually to romance. As hot as she writes, Ms. Taylor doesn't ignore the romance. Her characters are fun and realistic and these stories showcase Ms. Taylor's ability to be sexy and sweet at the same time.

Cheerless Porn,

3 short stories with very shallow ladies which would be okay if the women were involved in charming seductions, but in all three the author expects you to believe they deserve to meet the man of their dreams and fall in love. These meets are based on a ludicrous truth-or-dare type game. Now I've read short stories which were very well done, Masks by Evangeline Anderson, is one. These stories weren't charming, the women were ones I would not want to hang out with and the men, so hastily drawn as to be worthy only of a one-night stand. Didn't like it, won't read any more by this author.
Explicit language and graphic sexual situations, the first story (which was the only one I liked) contained no BDSM, and the two subsequent ones, while more adventurous, felt like cheerless porn.

The perfect weekend read! This book has three stories based around women's different experiences with a racy board game, the stories are all of the perfect length with just enough "building up the scene", "the peak" and "the happy ending"
The writer has a background in psychology and romance writing, and skillfully builds dreamy characters into fantasy settings and appeals to the romantic in us all...you will feel good after reading this!

Enjoyable...,

I enjoyed this read. It is actually comprised of three short stories - "Playing for Keeps", "Master, May I?", and "A Game of Risk" - that revolve around an internet purchased board game called "Private Games". Each story is about how a woman steps out of her normal routine or out of her comfort zone and how it enhances her lift. Of course, each story has a HEA ending. The endings, to me, seemed a bit rushed. It was like 90% of a build up and then all of a sudden a bow was put on it to finish the story.
Enjoyable - not something I would re-read. It was a good escape. May find other books by this author. I read this on the Kindle version. As normal with these books, it did NOT have an active table of contents. The editing / proofreading and formatting were better than most.

This book is three stories revolving around a board game that challenges women to do out-of-character things related to sex (like go to a Victoria's Secret and model clothing, get a stranger's phone number, or visit an S & M club). I thought at first that the three friends in the first story were each going to get their own story, but the game is the only piece of continuity. It fell a little flat in the last story where the game barely features and the heroine doesn't even play it.
In the first story, a woman meets a hot guy at a bar and realizes that he is her absentee boss who is recovering from a divorce and is afraid of commitment. In the second story, a woman begins a relationship with the guy who bought her house and finds out he is into the master/slave sexual lifestyle. In the third story, a daredevil day trader begins a relationship with a risk-adverse EMT. While I enjoyed the sex scenes in each story, they were held back overall by the author's desire to present a perfect HEA. A HEA for a couple that has been on a handful of dates shouldn't be a long-term relationship -- that's just weird. As a result, the endings felt rushed and contrived. I would read more of Taylor's work for the sex scenes -- I just wish she didn't have to make everything so tidy at the end.

Three short stories: The only connection between them is the erotic board game that each story revolves around. I found the first story the best of the three, and the third one surprisingly lacking in the ability to keep me interested.
I like Ms. Taylor's writing. She writes great sex scenes, but I wasn't impressed with this set of short stories. It's fine because it's free, but other than that, I would have been unhappy if I'd paid for it. I think it might have worked better for me if instead of three short stories about a board game with all different characters, there was one story about one group of women and their experiences with the game. Why does only one girl in each group get to have fun? Passable for the sex scenes alone, but more depth would have made the experience much more enjoyable.

Good but not amazing,

I was surprised to find that Tawny Taylor wrote all three of the short stories within this book, as they all seem to be slightly different in style. In the first story, a girl meets a handsome stranger while playing a game with her friends, only to find out that he's (surprise, surprise) the boss of her company. They resist each other, have hot sex, he upsets her, they fall in love. It's formulaic and the ending is awful, but getting to the ending is fun. The second story was my favorite. It involves BDSM, but the relationship between the characters is better than the other two stories, in my opinion. The third one is funnier than the others and enjoyable. Again, the ending falls flat, but you'll have fun getting there.
All in all, it's a fun read. I probably wouldn't be happy if I'd paid full price for it, but it's good if you can get it cheap or free.

If you get this, whether paid or free, just know that the "story" is jumpy. Its sexy, yes...but also a bit too hard a pill to swallow knowing someone for a week then falling head over heels in love and changing your whole life to be with them...this is a book that requires you to press the "suspend reality" button. If you cant, you won't enjoy the stories AT ALL because it penetrates (pun intended) everything in it, even the sex.
