Product Description

Dee, like most barn managers, is an overwhelmed, glorified grunt whose love for horses has turned into more stalls to clean and bratty horse owners to console than any actual time in the saddle. Then Ben comes into the picture. The only problem is he's the boy toy of perfect barn prima donna, Sandra...

M. Lush's Deepdale Acres series is what happens when a horse-crazy girl grows up to be a horse-lonely writer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Private Lessons - M Lush, May 31, 2011
This review is from: Private Lessons (Deepdale Acres) (Kindle Edition)
A short, sweet, and steamy romance with horses! What more could you want? As a pony-mad girl whose own dreams of working in a stable were killed by an unfortunate allergy to horses, I used to console myself by reading Saddle Club books over and over. Private Lessons is a bit like if the girls from the Saddle Club grew up and discovered sex.

Dee is an overworked stable manager with no time for romance, until Ben appears at Deepdale Acres. He seems interested, but the hitch is that he also seems attached - to too-perfect Sandra, a woman Dee envies. Of course, Ben's not all he seems. The question is whether Dee will look past his charade and let the romance blossom.

I really loved the stable setting and how Lush's own experiences and love for horses and riding shone through in Dee. The romance also worked well, given this is a short piece. It never felt hurried or unrealistic. I liked that Dee was simply too busy for romance, rather than nursing some deep grudge against men for something that happened decades ago - she was very relatable and refreshingly normal. I also liked that she was honourable. When she thought Ben was out of bounds, she respected that. The sex scenes were well-done, and helped move the plot along rather than overwhelming it.

There was a teaser for the next Deepdale Acres story at the end of Private Lessons, and it looks to be a real heart-breaker. Can't wait!

4.0 out of 5 stars My thoughts on Private Lessons by M. Lush, November 30, 2011
This review is from: Private Lessons (Deepdale Acres) (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed the main character. Dee was funny (I like when characters can laugh at themselves) and realistic about her situation. I like that she didn't lose her sense of self trying to get Ben's attention.

I related to all the characters. I knew how Dee felt with her jealousy over Sandra. At first, I could see why Sandra was so disliked, but the twist at the end had me sympathizing with her.

It was a fast read. I enjoyed this cute love story. The writer has a way of showing how much everyone loves and appreciates their horses, so the ending fits perfectly with the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sexy romp!, November 13, 2011
This review is from: Private Lessons (Deepdale Acres) (Kindle Edition)
Private Lessons is a fun, sexy romp; short but sweet and totally satisfying! The romance is plausible, if a little quick to the bedroom (but hey, it's a romance novel, right?) and the emotions are quite real. The characters are normal types readers can readily relate to, a refreshing change!
Did I mention the horses? That has to be the very best part (aside from the sex, which was totally hot)! I have read a lot of horsey books, writers looooove to write about horses but too few know a forelock from a fetlock. Lush REALLY knows her stuff. Having spent many years in a barn just like this setting's, I really enjoyed the level of detail.
So, if you're like me and you love horses and you love sex, do NOT hesitate to grab this ebook!

More About the Author

Once there was a writer who couldn't decide what she wanted to write. So she started with horror, because she loved paranormals and that's the only place your could find paranormals at the time. She wrote some horror, wrote some dark science fiction because it sounded fun and spent a lot of time writing urban fantasy. But sometimes she just got weighed down with all the dark stuff and she took a month off and wrote-Romance. That's right.

It was fun. It was a completely different kind of challenge and it was like a vacation from writing without falling out of the butt-in-chair-fingers-on-keyboard habit. The thing was she thought her romance stories, while short, were pretty good too. But with only limited time in her day, and the focus on her more prolific side the drive to try to establish herself as a romance writer and a writer of all that other stuff just wasn't there.

Given that romance traditionally has a happily for now or better ending and a lot of those other genres don't, there needed to be a clear distinction from her darker work and the fun stuff and thus M. Lush was born. Yes, it's actually her real name.

But so is her other name, Michele Lee.
