Cat Who Series Revisited,
By
This review is from: The Private Life of the Cat Who: Tales of Koko and Yum Yum from the Journals of James MacKintosh Qwilleran (Hardcover)
I would hate for anyone to read this book and base their judgement of Braun's wonderful series of mysteries on it. This is a cute little "gift" book for dear friends who love their cats more than anything else, and who like reading about the personalities of cats. For those of us who have read and loved the "Cat Who..." series I am afraid this book does not hold much draw.

Rehash of past books,

This review is from: The Private Life of the Cat Who: Tales of Koko and Yum Yum from the Journals of James MacKintosh Qwilleran (Hardcover)
This is a collection of much of what has been written in "The Cat Who..." series. The book is a very quick read, the 123 pages is more like 40, when you take out the blank and title pages. As a fan, I have already read all the books from the series, and so was looking forward to something new, and not a recount of past events. There was very new little material, and they are mostly of other cats, not of Yum Yum or Koko.If you've already read even half of the series, this will come as a big disappointment, as there is nothing new about the cats that's not already written.

An Adorable Little Gift Book!,

This review is from: The Private Life of the Cat Who: Tales of Koko and Yum Yum from the Journals of James MacKintosh Qwilleran (Hardcover)
I agree that in order to really enjoy this book the reader must be an avid cat fancier and/or a fan of Ms. Braun's Cat Who series. Someone without one of these traits would just look at this book in astonishment and wonder why it was written, and they probably wouldn't take the time to read it. But for those of us who love Koko and Yum Yum, this book is a real treasure. It's heartwarming and wonderful! Ms. Braun is the piece de resistance in the cozy genre and she proves it with this little anthology of rhymes, stories and anecdotes about those fabulous felines of Qwill's. The book is very short and only takes a little time to read, so I recommend that you do so.

You have to be a true fan of Lilian Jackson Braun's books, to appreciate this heartwarming tale of stories. Qwill recollects his memories with his cats, and stories on how they came to be. This book also has cute riddles and poems, that just make you feel great all over. I cannot believe the negativity this book is getting from the other reviews. If you are a true fan of Lilian Jackson Braun, you will find this book is absoloutly delightful, like I have. Enjoy!

If you are looking for something new from Moose County read The Cat Who talked Turkey,if you have read all the others. If you are new to the series start at the beginning. But this book is nothing but excerpts and if you are a die hard fan you have already read all this. Avoid it!

Too short,

This review is from: The Private Life of the Cat Who: Tales of Koko and Yum Yum from the Journals of James MacKintosh Qwilleran (Hardcover)
An avid fan of the Cat Who series, I was dissappointed in "The Private Life of the Cat Who..." book. I had expected (and hoped) for detailed insight & feelings from Qwill's observations and day to day interaction with his feline companions. Instead, I got just a few brief notes on events I had already read about. If you're looking to get into the Cat Who series, pick up any of Lilian Jackson Brauns' books, just dont start with this one.

My son bought me this book because I have all of her "The Cat Who" books. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has read even one of the other books. It might be nice to acquaint someone with her writing style but this book is too short, in length and in detail. Please buy any one of her other books and get hooked.

for fans of The Cat Who series only,
This review is from: The Private Life of the Cat Who: Tales of Koko and Yum Yum from the Journals of James MacKintosh Qwilleran (Hardcover)
In each and everyone one of "The Cat Who" mystery books, Siamese felines Koko and Yum Yum play an intricate role. Their human James, Mackintosh Qwilleran, columnist to the Moose County something, shares some thoughts about these felines who enriched his life.Koko came to live with Qwill when his owner died and thanks to the feisty feline with sixty whiskers instead of the normal forty-eight, the murderer was apprehended. Koko didn't like being left alone all day and started eating Qwill's wool clothing. He had to stop Koko from spitting up the resulting hairballs so he found her a pet of her own, the cat Yum Yum who bonded instantly with the man and his feline. Further anecdotes about Koko and Yum-Yum reveal the personality traits of the Siamese cats and, how they all became a family, and some very interesting adventure they experienced. Fans of "The Cat Who" series will want to read this adorable anthology that will make a delightful unique holiday present for feline lovers. Harriet Klausner

A Complete Waste of Time and Space,
By
This review is from: The Private Life of the Cat Who: Tales of Koko and Yum Yum from the Journals of James MacKintosh Qwilleran (Hardcover)
Who wrote this book and why? I have read and loved all the Cat Who books, but this one didn't seem to make any sense. It rambled on and on about 100 different subjects - disjointed and with no rhyme nor reason. (in spite of all the little rhymes Braun included) Some reviewers find it a delightful compilation of snips from previous books, but I find it boring and meaningless. It read like the notes for a REAL book. Don't bother.
