My Favorite New Age CD,
By Maire (CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Private Music Sampler 88 (Audio CD)
This is probably the best compilation of new age artists I have ever listened to. You won't find any of that boring, heavy on the synthesizer, "mood" music here. Every song is a treat to the ears from James Newton Howard's Plymouth Waltz to Susan Ciani's Neverland. This CD is hard to find - so grab it if you can.

PRIVATE MUSIC COMES OF AGE...,
By
This review is from: Private Music Sampler 88 (Audio CD)
This album was actually the third "Sampler" released by Private Music, one of the earliest "New Age" labels (their earlier samplers are: The World of Private Music, Vol. 1 and The World of Private Music, Vol. 2), and it is exceptional in every regard.
Their two "signature" artists are well-represented: Yanni (with "Swept Away," "Keys to Imagination," and "Within Attraction") and Patrick O'Hearn ("Reunion" and "Forever the Optimist"), but they have now added Tangerine Dream (two tracks), a young pianist named Suzanne Ciani, Michael Colina (two tracks), and even John Tesh (BEFORE he became a TV star and "Contemporary Christian Music" composer, thankfully). There is even (heresy of heresies for a "New Age" album!) a VOCAL song by Bill Gable, "High Trapeze." This is a GREAT, upbeat collection!

The First Time I Heard Private Music,
By
This review is from: Private Music Sampler 88 (Audio CD)
This album was the first time I ever heard Yanni, Michaek Colina, Suzanne Ciani, Patrick O'Hearn.....even John Tesh. I bought this album on tape first because is was cheaper. After listening to it over and over, I bought the C.D. After this album, i bought all of Yanni, Suzanne Ciani, Patrick O'Hearn....etc. Private Music changed the new age scene into the I gotta have New Age scene. T.V. and radio started using this music and before you knew it, New Age artists were just as popular as Rock and Roll groups. There are absolutely no bad songs on this disc. It is well worth the money and you will keep playing it forever. Private music was recording all their artist in digital and they pioneered the digitial scene. Everyone used to look for the "DDD" on their c.d.'s to see if the artist was rich enough to afford all Digital recordings. Now of course it is the norm. This album deserves your attention and i promise you will not be sorry. Enjoy !!
