Book Description

Fans of Bella Andre, Sylvia Day, Victoria Dahl, and Maya Banks will enjoy this steamy story of a second chance at love.

After years of catering to the whims of the rich and famous at one of the Caribbean's most luxurious resorts, there isn't much that can rattle Carla DeLuca.
Until Sam O’Connell shows up.
Tall, dark, and sexy, Holley Cay's new security chief is no stranger. He's the irresistible bad boy who seduced her over a long, hot summer only to leave her heartbroken, humiliated, and determined to never again fall for a player like him. But though her heart still stings with the memory of his rejection, her body can't forget the all-consuming pleasure of his touch.

Sam never forgave himself for his too cruel rejection of Carla over a decade before. Young, reckless, and convinced it was only a matter of time Carla regretted hooking up with a trouble maker like him, Sam pushed Carla away before she could realize her mistake. But when Sam lands a job working for Carla in paradise, he seizes the chance to finally make things right.

When a hurricane strands them alone on the island, Carla is unable to resist the passion simmering between them. She doesn't fool herself that what they have will last past the storm. But little does she know, Sam will do whatever it takes to make her his – forever this time.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was ok November 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the premise of the book but reading it I felt it didn't live up to its potential. Firstly Sam & Carla never actually did the deed over 10years ago but they hold each other as the ideal sexual partner? What the? How can all your previous partners pale in comparison to someone you've not actually been with?
Also I found Carla a bit petty & unwilling to let go of a grudge. If Sam was a grown man & behaved the way he did then ok but he was a teenager give him a break!
I just couldn't warm up to Carla so I gave this 3 stars

2.0 out of 5 stars Painful protagonist and Hard to empathize January 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just finished reading it in one setting. However, I found it hard to finish, and had to force myself to do it so I could write a complete review.

I found Carla, the female protagonist, hard to tolerate; she was too self-righteous and played "the victim" card ad nauseam, until the very end. I found her to be childish, emotionally selfish and extremely annoying that even all the sex scenes did not do much to lift up the story. And there were a lot of those. Carla and Sam were at different levels mentally of what their feelings were for each other that those sex scenes felt forced and lacking true Intimacy.

In addition, Carla has been holding a grudge for 11 years because Sam left her and broke her heart. Therefore, what does she do with the man who humiliated her, and made her feel worthless? Does she honestly confront him about it? NO. Is she honest with herself or demands an apology? NO. As soon as the opportunity presents itself she is having sex with the same man who trampled on her feelings and heart, "Just to scratch an itch" as she puts it; "It is only sex," according to her (foolish thoughts). It only exemplified Carla's immaturity.

I personally did not feel any empathy for her or her predicament.

Sam, the male lead felt more human and patient; almost too patient. I actually felt bad for him at many times. He was the only adult one in this relationship.

Overall, it was a painful read and the storyline just dragged on, in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Okay..So It Is A Bit Trashy, But... June 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
That is what one should expect if they read the book summary. My personal opinion was that this book delivered and I enjoyed every single page. Jami Alden added the perfect notes of chemistry and heat to keep me wanting more and I plan to read more from her. It took me a minute to get used to the graphic language used during the sex scenes, simply because I don't usually read erotic lit. I think I might read a little more now...

3.0 out of 5 stars Really? January 5, 2013
By Caitlin
Format:Kindle Edition
I just finished reading the iBooks version. I spent more time counting the typos and grammatical mistakes. For DeLuca to be so bent out of shape over a former lover 10+ years ago, while a teenager, over a summer, I just didn't get it. Maybe if there was more built on the deepness of that relationship it wouldn't make her out to be such an uptight prude? I will admit, some of the sex scenes were good (not great).

I really liked Private Pleasures but Private Paradise was just so so. The editing was terrible as well. I tried to like this book, but just couldn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Down & Dirty August 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you want a book that will knock your socks up in the exotic romance department, this is a winner! Loved this book. It's been so hard to find books that compare of course to the Fifty Shades of Grey...but if the wild passion is what you enjoyed so much about Fifty, well then, this is a must read!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Private Paradise July 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just couldn't get into this one. The characters didn't seem to have any substance. The plot seemed contrived as a way to make sure the characters had all the sex they could by stranding them during a hurricane. The problem is, he'd dumped her years before, broke her heart but as soon as she shows up they are going at it like rabbits. Didn't work for me.
