Imagination, Revelation, and Inspiration,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller (Hardcover)
This was the best book I have ever read! I absolutely loved it! It was about a girl named Jamie who wrote a personal journal entry on her friend's computer, making up a story about a good girl winning against the popular girls. The story is based on Jamie's life, reflecting the personalities of her archenemy, Sawyer. She was also assigned an English essay. Her friend was going to print the essay for Jamie, but she accidentally prints the journal entry and hands it it to Jamie's English teacher. Jamie's teacher is so impressed by the journal entry, and she reads it out loud to the class. Jamie's English teacher knows a literary agent and she sends it to her friend. Jamie's novel becomes a number one bestseller, her face known byu girls everywhere. Jamie goes overnight from being a no body to being the most known teen novelist. She is still bombarded with normal teenage problems, not letting the celebrity status go to her head. She is faced with normal problems that all girls are faced with, so any teenager can relate to her. I really loved this book, and it is great inspiration to young writers. I loved this book. If you don't like to write, than this book probably isn't for you, but I love to write, and this book is number one on my list. I would recommend this book to anybody that likes to read about others' problems. The writing part is an added plus. Five Stars!

A plus for all you Meg Cabot fans out there!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller (Hardcover)
I recieved this book for my birthday, and was really impressed. Just by the jacket description I could tell it sounded like something good- I am a HUGE Meg Cabot fan, and this almost seemed like it was written by Meg Cabot herself! Most of it is written well- it is a good read for you writers out there, those of you who aren't the most poplular in school, and anyone in between. I am a writer myself, and found this book quite inspirational. Some of it was a little unrealistic, however. It seemed a bit strange that she got it published so soon- most books are so long and such a grueling process to write (I know- my mom is an author). Also, her whole love life was kind of obvious. But I think the ending was strong, and overall, this was a great book!

Chic Lit Escapist Reading for Teen Girls,

Far fetched, definitely, and somewhat predictable at time, yet undeniable addicting and fun! Recommended for fans of Meg Cabot and all teen girls looking for a fun, somewhat silly, book. Guaranteed you won't be able to put it down. I definitely couldn't! Jamie is a great role model - even though she thinks she is nothing like IS.

This book was just so... amazing. Pretty much every girl has gone through some kind of torment during their life. Whether it be traumatic lunchroom experiances or abuse frome fellow scollmates, we've all been there. "H.M.P.P.J.B.A.B" was sooo funny in the way that I could relate to what she was going through. I mean come on, who HASN'T hed a lunchroom breakdown before? I've had many thankyouverymuch. Whether you're the bully or the bullied does'nt matter. This book will rech into your heart and force you to realize that you CAN do something. It will inspire you to make a change, to stick up for others, to be a better person. If not, it will at least make you think.
Really the only thing I noticed that was sorta bad was that I knew who her love interest would be as soon as he was introduced. It was sooo obvious. I kept waiting for something to happen, and waiting, and then waiting some more. And then, "Finally! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!" All and all, this was agreat book. It had a good message and a story line any girl can relate to. Honestly, what ARE you waiting for? GO OUT AND BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: How My Private, Personal Journal Became a Bestseller (Hardcover)
If you're a fan of the "Princess Diaries" or "All American Girl", you'll love this "How My Journal Became a Bestseller" by Julia Devillers! I had a hard time putting this novel down!
It all starts when Jamie Bartlett uses her friend's laptop to write her English essay, and decides to also type her nightly journal entry on the laptop. Jamie emailed her friend what she thought was her essay, and she turned it in for Jamie. Although Jamie didn't find out that it wasn't until Gallagher, her English teacher, read aloud her journal entry to the class! The entry happened to be a story of a confident, outstanding teenager [a.k.a. Isabella or IS] who does incredible things. At this point, regular Jamie Bartlett has become " Bestselling Author of IS, Jamie Bartlett." But will all of this attention and popularity force Jamie to forget about the true IS she is inside? I think the author's purpose to write this story was to show girls that it doesn't matter if you're popular or famous, as long as you stay true to yourself. The message in this story is very important to any reader of this novel. I really enjoyed this book and hope to reread it in my spare time. I would recommend this novel to girls in 4th-8th grade. I recommend this book to you for several reasons, but mostly because it shows that fame and popularity should'nt get in the way of who you are inside!

fun, fast read, with an empowering message,
This review is from: How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book, it was fun, fast read, with an empowering message. I think this book will resonate with young female teens. I particularly liked Jamie's personal growth and how even though she could write a bestseller at fourteen she still had a lot to learn about friendship and self courage. I also enjoyed how dimensional the characters were, with the exception of the two villains, Devillers did an excellent job characterization. I also liked the story within the story. This was an excellent choice.

My Favorite Book!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was a great book that always kept me interested. I am not much of a reader, but i really enjoyed it. It taught me new lessons. Although the book is amazing, the movie is way different and not good different. I recommend watching the movie before you read the book. I think every teen can relate to almost all of the characters because they reflect real life insecurities.

I heard about this book from a colleauge of mine. I got this book and finished it in less than two days. It held my attention and was very good. I could relate to the main character. I am in high school and this book was a bit immature for my likings, it is said to be for grades 5-9 but i would recommend it for grades 6-7 or 8. The writing is not very adult-like, however, i loved the book!!!!!!!!!!

It was a fantastic book for teens. And it taught a valuable lesson: Don't let being a star or being popular go to your head. Just be yourself.
