5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource, May 10, 2009
By
This review is from: Private Practice Psychology: A Handbook (Paperback)
I found this book very helpful as I'm a doctoral psychology student and I'm contemplating whether I should open my own private practice in the near future. The book is wonderful because it is detailed and offers a lot of information about everything one should know when starting a solo practice. It discusses how to perform market research; the importance of choosing the right location; and most importantly it talks about how to develop a business plan which is something every practitioner should have before starting their own practice. There are a lot of things to consider, and unfortunately it is not something we hear or learn about in grad schools such as how to market yourself and your business. It even has some examples of fee schedules, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, etc. This book is a great resource for anyone who is thinking about starting their own private practice in psychology.
