Talk about a gem ... Ive been playing this game almost solid for two weeks..
I'm giving it only a 4 overall cause its old and the video clips are kind of dated but this game rocks..you fly around buying and selling cargo and dodging these creeps trying to space you. the physics of the space combat are great and you dont have to have a joy stick.. easy to fly with a mouse! great ship upgrades and tons of ships to choose from.. of course you start out with only 13000 space units to spend so you need to earn some cash delivering cargo bounty hunting or picking up spaced cargo.. look for missions on the bulletin board at any space port.. you can hire freighters as well and wingmen if you like..Ohh!, and you get to find out who you really are... Lev Aris. You will need dosbox(google dosbox) to play this one and there are instructions for mounting the game on dosbox at Wing Commander CIC(google it). If you like space flyers you will kick yourself for passing this one up!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the amazing games, July 29, 2007

Alright, First thing is this game is\was a DOS game. Be that as it may this game was also 4 or 5 years ahead of its market. it uses the Wing Commander engine for space physics but in a much more open ended way. like wing commander series (its predcesor) you fly missions and prgress the plot in this pseudo-space opera. However unlike Wing commander you are not stuck in an almost completely linear game. take missions discover who oyu really are or blast the military to slag, what ever you want to do is up to you. Also origin spared no costs on it budget hireing big name actors suck as Christopher Walkens (sp) for live action movie cutscenes, and while the quality is low the technology for computer in the mid 90's was also relitivly unimpressive. This game is definatly worth the time and with high replay value will keep you playing time and time again (im playing for the roughly 50th)
