More About the Author

I write Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Mysteries. There are three books in the Tali Cates mystery series that features a small town, Love, Texas, Tali Cates and her family, along with various and assorted spirit guides, ghosts, witches, were wolves and vampires. The people in this tiny, Texas town must face the reality that the monster under the bed is real. The first book in the series, "Privy to Murder", features a murder in the outhouse and a very angry ghost. In "Bloody Murder", book 2, things heat up when a new man comes to town. Tali's son thinks he's a vampire, but that's impossible...or is it. "Museums are Murder" is a short Tali mystery.

I also write Urban Fantasy, "Fairy Dust", introduces Ande Ryan, half fairy, half witch, all woman, who joins her friends to fight off a wizard. Join Carol and the crew at http://carol-carolsinkspot.blogspot.com or www.carolshenold.com.

I live and work in Oklahoma City with my daughter, two cats and a spoiled dog. I work full time in the nursing profession as well as write, paint portraits and play the hammered dulcimer. I love to read Urban Fantasy but lately I've been hooked on post apocalyptic zombie and vampire books.

I enjoyed the story, although I'm not a big fan of "cozy" mysteries. Tali Cates must deal with hair-pulling antics of her kids, an ex you want to shoot, a mother who "channels" guidance from other worlds, and make a living on her own. Throw into the mix an obnoxious ghost demanding Tali solve her murder, and you have enough angst to drive anyone to see ghosts.

I particularly liked Tali's "voice" when she deals with all the angst with humor despite wanting to throw in the towel--or smack somebody upside the head. There's a hopeful likeability that makes readers root for her, and cheer her success. This is a quick read, and one I believe cozy mystery fans will enjoy and want to come back for more.

Another story about a macho clueless cop who doesn't listen and a woman who does stupid things. These stories get on my nerves. Also the murderer was quite obvious.

I liked the story - but Tali is divorced - he kicked her out - she has custody of the kids; he seems to be doing OK financially - and she's struggling. What about child support? And while she's worrying about buying the kids school clothes - she goes out looking for cocktail clothes for herself.
There's a story line about a legal battle for child custody - but just disappears into the ether.
What was the point of adding that to the story if you weren't going anywhere with it?

Tali Cates is a divorced Mom with 2 kids and a pain in the tuckus ex-husband. Her tarot-reading psychic mother has taken then in while Tali tries to get her party planning business off the ground amidst ghosts sightings, murder and mayhem. Fun and fast paced but falls a little flat at the end. Overall, not bad and I would definitely read the next book in the series.

Glad this one was a freebie... very poorly constructed story... won't be getting anymore books by this author as I couldn't even finish what was written.

I very much enjoyed this book. Tali's charm and sence of humor instantly draws you into her heart, making you feel like your going through every struggle right along with her. Who would of thought that life in a town simply named "Love, Texas could be home to murder and haunting! I would recomend this book to any one, but I can especially relate being a single mother who struggles with the day to day challenges of life's roller coaster. Thank you for this wonderful, easy read, I will be watching for the next one!

A decent book. Thrilling at times and pretty quick read. Not the best psychic mystery I have read, but all in all a good book for relaxing and just enjoying.
