4.0 out of 5 stars Great graphics & appointments, but stats nuts will frown, November 27, 1999

The graphics are very impressive. Save for the frustratingly confusing putting grid, the game play is adequate. This game would surely placate the general enthusiast simply out to simulate a round of 18.

The human player can pitch, punch, chip, lob, draw, or fade a shot... and there is a mulligan option for those with high handicaps!

There are adequate game play options (stroke play, match play, best ball, shoot out, skins, and tournament mode) to support the needs of the casual gamer. The game allows play between 1-4 human players (or up to 8 with Multi-Tap Adapter). Also, the gamer can tee off against any of 8 real PGA/LPGA golfers.

Those looking to get into the game a little more and do a PGA Tour-style season will find that this game leaves something to be desired. From a statistical standpoint, the PGA Tour games on the old Sega platform definitley surpass the capabilities of this game. Money earnings do not accumulate from one tournament to the next, and greens-in-regulation, driving, putting stats are missing altogether.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a golfer, but I play one on TV, March 16, 2000

I'm not a golfer but have played a couple of computer golf games and this one is pretty good. The editorial review claims that getting the hang of the controls is difficult. I think mastering the controls and figuring out the courses is half the fun. Taking into account the distance from the pin, wind speed, terrain, golfer strength, club selection, etc. takes a little practise but keeps the game from getting boring. Playing a tournament with 2 players takes 2 or 3 hours. Each of the three courses are of increasing difficulty. My only complaint is that there aren't more courses. In my opinion, the editorial review for this one is a little harsh. I think this game is great!
