Book Description

January 1, 1999 0865164398 978-0865164390
Student: The Pro Archia is a delightful speech delivered by Cicero in defense of A. Licinius Archias, a Greek poet whose eligibility for Roman citizenship was challenged in 62 B.C. It is one of the best literary defenses in literature and the humanities. Cerutti's edition provides a comprehensive treatment of grammatical issues with a keen analysis of the rhetorical devices Cicero wove into the fabric of the oration.

This edition contains the Latin text, running vocabulary, a brief bibliography, and many other features that make it an excellent edition for the intermediate Latin classroom. Companion: Much more than a teacher's edition, this companion is a complete guide to in-depth analysis of the speech and is intended for use by student and teacher alike. Its reader-friendly format gives even the neophyte an understanding of the intricacies of Ciceronian periodic style.
