This is ok, but it does cause pinching at the edges of the support pads. They supposedly are bendable, but they return to their original shape very quickly, so you can't rely upon that. Additionally, after trying to bend it - just to the point where it was flat, the plastic began to tear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Tennis Elbow, April 15, 2010

Looking for some good treatments for tennis elbow, I came across the book Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow. In it, the book recommends using one of these forearm bands, also known as counterforce braces. Apparently they don't know exactly how these things help decrease tennis elbow pain, but they work. The current theory is that tennis elbow is a problem with the tendon of one of your forearm muscles. Putting this brace near the tendon of the problem muscle takes pressure off the tendon, giving it a chance to heal. Some of the studies quoted in the book also show these braces can increase your arm strength as well as decrease pain- so there's a lot of benefit to be gained by using one.

Now the first problem you might imagine you'd have is one of comfort. These things have to be on snug to take pressure off the forearm tendon or they're useless. Of course more pressure usually means LESS comfort. That's where this little baby comes in- its designed to get around the issues of cutting off your circulation. Now it is made of two pieces of plastic, so its a little more rigid than the soft braces, but its padded with foam and the plastic does give- so it ends up being both firm and comfortable.

The way I see it, forearm bands can't help you if you're not able to wear them. So if you've tried other bands, give this one a shot- it's a little different than the others and well worth a try. I'd also urge sufferers to do a few of the specialized exercises in the book to prevent recurrences or for those who find they simply can't stand wearing the brace.

5.0 out of 5 stars BandIT is simply the best in its class, July 21, 2006
I've suffered from occasional bouts of tendonitis and the consequential irritation of the ulnar nerve for many years. I have an active work and sports life, so my activities sometimes result in injuries that once took weeks or months to to heal. Until I found BandIT I had no choice but to completely rest my arm and use anti-inflammatory medicine. I've also learned the use of the BandIt during potentially injurious activities can completely prevent the injury to begin with.

While I didn't purchase BandIT through Amazon, I've owned one for more than five years and in that time it has managed to prevent the injury or shorten the recovery period from tendonitis and reduced the need for anti-inflammatory drugs, all the while allowing me to continue to work and participate in sports. While I do need to take some extra precautions against reinjury, I've never found another product, including the Futuro tendonitis brace and other similar bands, that have duplicated the results of this product. Bottom line: the BandIt places pressure at the exact two points necessary to releive 90% of the stress on the tendon, allowing it to recover and heal. I still recommend the use of ice for the first 48 hours, and then alternating ice and heat until the inflammation is completely gone. P.S. the KneedIt product for the knee works just as well for similar knee problems. Great healing products, great preventive products!!

I tried several different bands for tennis elbow. The one I found to be best is the Mueller Hg80 Tennis Elbow Brace. It is available on Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it, but had to modify it, October 18, 2009
This review is from: BandIT Therapeutic Forearm Band (Apparel)
I've tried seven different braces for my tennis elbow. Of them all, this one does the best but I did have to modify it a little for the best performance.

I went to the hardware store and bought that dense felt that's used to cushion chair legs and glued a small circle of it to the foam, right under the BandIt Logo.

The foam presses on my forearm, right where it needs to, and I finally get relief!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, one that works!, January 24, 2010

As a computer programmer, I spend many hours a day at the keyboard. A change in office furniture 20 years ago resulted in a really bad case of 'tennis elbow'. While I have had some luck with adjusting keyboard height and angle, too much damage was done to ever fully recover from it. I have used the cloth 'strap' types of elbow support for 20 years, with ever increasing frustration. Either they slide down my arm, the velcro stops sticking even when cleaned out, causing it to constantly come undone, or the velcro gets stuck to the sleeve material. And the pain never quite goes away.

That said, I can't say enough good things about this unit. For the first time, I am actually pain free the entire time I wear this. It stays in place and the velcro strap does not catch in my clothing. I highly recommend it to others who suffer from too much typing. Do make every attempt to make your workplace ergonomically correct, but if you are like me and it is too late to undo the damage, buy this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars BandIt Arm Band - Simple Yet Most Effective, October 10, 2009
By
G Yancey (Charleston, SC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: BandIT Therapeutic Forearm Band (Apparel)
This band is easy to use and very effective. It has a simple, yet most effective design. It's comfortable and when wearing it, I don't notice it. Best of all, when I hit against hard hitting 4.0 USTA rated guys , I don't feel pain in my right forearm near the elbow.

I had a BandIt Arm Band in 1993, and lost it after I had moved.

I haven't had tennis elbow since then, but recently noticed the pain in my right forearm after demoing new racquet a few weeks ago. The racquet felt like I was hitting with a 2' by 4', and my arm hurt after demoing it.

A guy on my team had a spare arm band, and I borrowed it two weeks ago. His band required two people to tighten it. What a horrible design. I washed his band and returned it. Then I went to Amazon to look for the BandIT. I remembered how well it worked for me in the early 90s and ordered another one.

After playing for two hours, I simply wash it with warm water and rinse with cool water and like it drip-dry in the bathroom before throwing it back in my tennis bag.

Hopefully wearing this BandIT will not be a long term ordeal, but I've played with it several times now and I can hit like I want without pain.

This product works for me and I've been playing tennis for 30 years.

I give this product my highest recommendation especially if your looking for relief on the court.

This arm band is FANTASTIC! I highly recommend it. Keep it on all day and take it off at night. Tighten the strap if you are going to play tennis, loosen it for daily routine. I could feel my arm getting better each day. Within 3 weeks my arm with completely pain free. I LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Actually Works, July 21, 2009
A little background...I played tennis in college and during the end of my senior season experienced some severe tennis elbow. I attributed it to the fact that I was very hard on my arm with exaggerated strokes over several years so after college I took 4-5 years off. I assumed that would be long enough for my arm to heal.

I started playing tennis again a year ago and the tennis elbow came back, just as bad as it had been before. I literally could not even pick up my water bottle after matches. I was extremely frustrated and was worried that surgery was my only option.

My dad ran across this brace and purchased for me in hopes of solving my problem. I will be honest...I was kind of skeptical. I have tried lots of other braces in the past and they really haven't done much for me. The first match I tried the band-it I did experience moderate pain. The second time, however, the pain was lessened. After the third time hitting with it, the pain start to disappear! I can now play through a whole match with very little to no pain and NO SORE ARM in the morning.

The band-it is an incredible product and a great solution for anyone who is experiencing chronic tennis elbow pain. Give it a try but make sure you use it 4-5 times in order to really evaluate it. I am hopeful that eventually I will not have to use it at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever! I even wear it to bed!, December 14, 2007
By

(REAL NAME)
I basically blew out my right elbow swinging a hammer for 6 weeks this past summer. I have not been able to get any relief from the constant pain of what was diagnosed as "tennis elbow". I have ran the course of several different types of NSAID's, physical therapy and cortisone shots, to no avail. I have also purchased several other types of elbow supports to relieve the pain, but again no avail. All they did was cut off my circulation, and cause swelling and knubness in my hand. A co worker told me about her device called "BandIt" I tried it on and wow what a great feeling. No circulation issues at all. It does not move from where it is placed! I use a peice of an old sock as a sleeve to assist with sweat under the band and irritation from the velcro at the inside bend of my elbow. I have wore it to bed and did not have any pain trying to move around in bed. I get up with out any pain. No more NSAID's for me...I LOVE this BandIt.
