Looking for some good treatments for tennis elbow, I came across the book Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow. In it, the book recommends using one of these forearm bands, also known as counterforce braces. Apparently they don't know exactly how these things help decrease tennis elbow pain, but they work. The current theory is that tennis elbow is a problem with the tendon of one of your forearm muscles. Putting this brace near the tendon of the problem muscle takes pressure off the tendon, giving it a chance to heal. Some of the studies quoted in the book also show these braces can increase your arm strength as well as decrease pain- so there's a lot of benefit to be gained by using one.

Now the first problem you might imagine you'd have is one of comfort. These things have to be on snug to take pressure off the forearm tendon or they're useless. Of course more pressure usually means LESS comfort. That's where this little baby comes in- its designed to get around the issues of cutting off your circulation. Now it is made of two pieces of plastic, so its a little more rigid than the soft braces, but its padded with foam and the plastic does give- so it ends up being both firm and comfortable.

The way I see it, forearm bands can't help you if you're not able to wear them. So if you've tried other bands, give this one a shot- it's a little different than the others and well worth a try. I'd also urge sufferers to do a few of the specialized exercises in the book to prevent recurrences or for those who find they simply can't stand wearing the brace.

I've suffered from occasional bouts of tendonitis and the consequential irritation of the ulnar nerve for many years. I have an active work and sports life, so my activities sometimes result in injuries that once took weeks or months to to heal. Until I found BandIT I had no choice but to completely rest my arm and use anti-inflammatory medicine. I've also learned the use of the BandIt during potentially injurious activities can completely prevent the injury to begin with.

While I didn't purchase BandIT through Amazon, I've owned one for more than five years and in that time it has managed to prevent the injury or shorten the recovery period from tendonitis and reduced the need for anti-inflammatory drugs, all the while allowing me to continue to work and participate in sports. While I do need to take some extra precautions against reinjury, I've never found another product, including the Futuro tendonitis brace and other similar bands, that have duplicated the results of this product. Bottom line: the BandIt places pressure at the exact two points necessary to releive 90% of the stress on the tendon, allowing it to recover and heal. I still recommend the use of ice for the first 48 hours, and then alternating ice and heat until the inflammation is completely gone. P.S. the KneedIt product for the knee works just as well for similar knee problems. Great healing products, great preventive products!!

This is ok, but it does cause pinching at the edges of the support pads. They supposedly are bendable, but they return to their original shape very quickly, so you can't rely upon that. Additionally, after trying to bend it - just to the point where it was flat, the plastic began to tear.

I tried several different bands for tennis elbow. The one I found to be best is the Mueller Hg80 Tennis Elbow Brace. It is available on Amazon.

I am a physical therapist and was advised by a hand specialist colleague to purchase one of these a year ago when I had a severe case of lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). This band puts pressure on just the right area to reduce stress from the tendon on the epicondyle without squeezing circumferentially like the one I bought at the drugstore. I gave my first BandIt strap to a fellow gym rat who developed the same problem several months ago, but had to buy a new one when my tendonitis started up again recently. Starting the strap again now, before the tendonitis really gets fired up is helping quite a bit. Highly recommend this strap. For fitting - apply strap so that the "D" in Bandit is pointing toward the sore tendon mass about 1 finger width below it.

Most of the reviews for this product concern its usage for tennis elbow. But let me tell you, if you are looking for a product to give immediate relief to Golfer's elbow, look no further. I sustained the injury from heavy weight training, and having never suffered a tendon injury before, was very surprised at how debilitating it was. Even opening the fridge door hurt! I put this bad boy on though, and the pain is eliminated. Putting to the extreme test, I grabbed a captains of crush, closed it, and then released. An action which previously would have caused me to clench my teeth in pain, was reduced in its severity by about 95%. NOT a replacement for a healthy tendon, but definitely a facilitator of healing in its ability to remove pain from the day to day (which is further tearing/inflammation of the tendon). I wear mine practically 24/7 with no discomfort. Note though, if it pinches a little, put it on the other way, so that the strap is pulled down to cinch, rather than up. After I am fully healed, I will wear this band when I return to training just as a safeguard. 10/10!
