I've used them with the acoustic drums and with remo djembe. Nice sound, good grip, and they keep the selected length.
I was a little worried about pure plastic handles, especially hard plastic openings, which sometimes hit the metal and might be prone to cracking. So from the day one I've taped the ends with scotch and they still go strong after a year of regular beatings.

I purchased these for use with a Cajon since I felt the metal brushes would be a little more destructive to the finish. They have worked great.
