It works!,

I have a tight Achilles tendon, which I'm slowly improving with stretching. However, for years I have not been able to walk for longer than half an hour without excruciating pain in the back of my left calf. I just tried this support out tonight, and did an hour of brisk walking on the treadmill with barely a twinge. It's very comfortable and fits easily in my athletic shoe. Highly recommended!

I'm a regular club tennis player and have had achilles tendinitis issues for a few years. So much so, that I recently consulted with a doctor about a surgical remedy. In any event, I purchased the Pro-Tec Support product and it has worked extremely well. I waited two months to write this review and have used the support three times a week. Have had no further problems! Definitely worth trying.

Worked for me,

My podiatrist diagnosed me with achilles tendonitis and sold me an expensive ankle brace with lots of straps. It worked pretty well, but it was such a pain to put it on, adjust it just right, and then go, that I found myself not using it.
This support is much better. It takes no longer to put it on than a sock, and it provides the right compression on my tendon to let my ankle heal itself. I've been wearing it for two weeks now, and the daily pain I was having is basically gone again. The size is ok for me, it's tight but not uncomfortably so. I could see it being a problem if you have larger ankles. If you're looking for a sizing guide: the neoprene part that wraps around your ankle is 10 inches long without stretching, plus the velcro overlap. It can stretch to 12 inches, or you can get another 3/4 inch by not completely overlapping the velcro. Either way, it won't be as comfortable. My ankle is 9.5 inches in circumference, and I find it comfortable to wear every day.

Strap stays closed - works great,

Strap on Pro-Tec stays closed - works great. I bought McDavid ones at first. They are similar to these when the strap stays closed. But the velcro strap on the McDavid ones are not as good as the ones on these. If I play sports (soccer / basketball / running) without these I can barely walk afterwards. So if you have achilles tendonitis, I highly recommend these.

For very SMALL ankles,

I ordered this product for my husband who is very average in size. He couldn't get it around his ankle without being painfully tight. I am a very small person, 5'2" size 6 shoe and it fit about right on my very small ankle. So if you are petite, this may work for you, otherwise keep looking. It gets a one star for lack of proper sizing information.

I injured my Achilles tendon a few weeks ago and was reduced to using the elliptical machine. I'm not a huge fan of elliptical as I don't get the workout I need so I started searching for something to help with my tendon. I tried sports tape, other ankle type braces and stretching really good and couldn't get 2 minutes on a run without immediate pain.
I received the Pro-Tec Achilles Tendon Support on Saturday (6/26) and ran for 30 minutes today! This support worked better than I had hoped! I had no pain at all in my Achilles tendon whatsoever. The brace has a small square pad that's puts pressure on the tendon which seemed to really help. It fitsa little snug, but it has to in order to support your ankle and tendon area. So expect it to be tight, but it will work! I highly recommend buying this!

After many years of running, I developed Achilles tendonitis which yoga and orthotics didn't help. This simple device seems to make all the difference and I'm running again after 2+ years of pain. However, I initially used the strap that goes under your heel and this seemed to make it worse! It made the tendon feel sore and ache. Upon the suggestion of my son, I stopped using the heel strap altogether and it works like a charm now! I stared wearing it 7 days a week, but now the pain is better and I only use it for the 1 hr/day that I run. Try it out!

good product,

It does what it is suppose to and helps support the tendon and reduce pain. It also works as a way to keep your foot in the correct position at night to heal more properly.
The only negatives are that is is a little on the small side, but still OK for a 200# guy. It was a good value and helped with my tendonitis recovery. |
