5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient Way to Ice Injuries!
This is a convenient, portable way to ice injuries! I'm a runner, and am training for my first marathon. 3.0 out of 5 stars Pro-Tec Ice Up
The product is convenient. If you regularly do ice massage for sore areas its worth the money. Getting the ice moving initially can be troublesome. Usually a hard smash on a table or other hard surface will dislodge the ice and start it sliding smoothly.

This is a convenient, portable way to ice injuries! I'm a runner, and am training for my first marathon. I've used this to ice down an ankle and an IT band--very handy to be able to put ice directly on an area and massage it using the Pro Tec Ice Massager, without actually having to hold onto an ice cube. I learned in a running clinic that massaging an injury with ice is preferable to an ice pack when possible, due (at least in part) to massaging the area with the cold ice. It has helped me! I keep this in my freezer, and just top it off and return it to the freezer after each use. It can be a little messy when the ice starts to melt against the skin, so I often stand in the bathtub (or sit on the edge with my legs inside the tub) while I'm using it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Portable Ice Massager for the Gym, February 1, 2008
This review is from: Pro-Tec Ice Up (Sports)
This is a great product. You fill the tube with water, put on the cap and place it in the freezer. Great for minor sprains and knocks, the ice gets pushed up through the tube as you use it. It is essentially leak-proof, and it comes with a compact, high tech insulated zipper pouch that you can carry in your gym bag. It will stay frozen for a good many hours. When you get home whether you have used it or not you refill it and put it back in the freezer overnight. It is also good as an all around ice to have in the freezer in case of accidents in or around the home. If you have a minor strain or sprain and ice it soon after the injury happens, you greatly lower the chance of having any lasting inflammation and/or pain. If you have the ice-up with you, you won't forget, and you are less likely to lose days in the gym.

The Pro-Tec "Ice Up" has finally made it possible to take your ice massage with you. If you are looking at this product, you are probably already a believer in ice massage and may even have a bunch of styrofoam cups in your freezer. The Ice Up lets you skip the wasteful tearing of cups and gives you a convenient and insulated carrying case to boot. Basically, you put the ice stick and the carrying case in your freezer overnight then load it up and stick it in your gym bag in the morning on the way out the door. The case has a little freezer gel pack in it that helps keep the ice stick frozen. Hours later, when you finish your workout or game, you pull out the ice stick, rub it on your knees or other sore spots and are good to go. The Ice Up does exactly what it should and does it really well. I have had the ice stick last over eight hours in the case. Couldn't be more convenient unless it had a tiny freezer right in the case! Oh... if you aren't used to ice massage, bring an extra small towel...

The design concept is excellent and 100% functional, the only drawback I find is the small capacity of the container for a runner's post race ice therapy...I recomend you buy 2 instead. Other than that it's a 5 star.

I am a treatment massage therapist and this little ice stick is great for doing cryotherapy and cross fiber friction. I use it in absence of a freezer at my current job. It gets the job done, unfortunately I go through the entire stick in one massage- although the carrying case will keep the ice for several hours before I use it. The only downside is the ice doesnt grip well after it starts to melt and you may have to hold the plunger to keep the ice from retracting back into the device.

This is great for sports. I recently went to the doctor for an injury I had while playing raquetball. The hand therapist recommended using ice after each raquet, tennis match ot golf to relax the muscles and prevent tennis elbow and carpa tunnel.

This thing does the job. Once the ice is out, it makes for a very easy massage and if you don't mind the cold water as it melts it's great! However, sometimes it's hard to use it, specially when it's fresh out of the freezer, since you can barely move the ice, or you don't want to get wet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for shinsplints, January 11, 2012

This is one of my favorite amazon purchases! I'm a volleyball player and have been dealing with shin splints for a while now. After games my team always goes for food and now I will be able to quickly ice my shins before we go. I am also looking fwd to bringing this for beach vball since it is supposed to stay frozen in the case. Just remember to have a towel as it gets a bit messy :).

This is great for cold massagess on any limb and also bee stings. The insulated carrier makes it easy to carry along in the car so it is availalble whenever needed. Make sure you take a small towel along as the ice does melt.
