Pro Tools LE VTC Training CD

This teaches you nothing if you don't already know it. If you want to learn how to use Pro Tools this won't do it. Don't waste your money on it.

The package actually contains 2 CDs (and no book). Note that the VTC player crashed when using Quicktime 6 (Type-10 error when closing the VTC player, forcing me to restart my Mac). After uninstalling Quicktime 6 and installing Quicktime 5 (included on the CD), everything worked fine. Note also that you do not need the VTC player to see the Quicktime movies, but the player makes it a lot easier to navigate through the movies. You can preview the CDs at the VTC site, but the CD quality is way better than the(compressed)downloaded sample movies.
These training CDs are ideal to get you started quickly with Protools LE : being able to see and hear how it all works can spare you from having to read through massive instruction manuals.
You can run the movies while running Protools LE, so it is very easy to switch from the training CD to the actual program and try out what you learned.

If this is anything like Kagi's Pro Tools HF_SC DVD, it's a complete waste of money. Don't waste your time or $!

I recieved the package a couple of days ago. There are actually 2 CDs in the box (no 122 page book as the ... description misleadingly indicates). I wanted to note that the VTC player crashed my Mac when using Quicktime 6 (Type 10 error when closing the application, forcing you to restart the computer). I had to uninstall Quicktime 6 and install Quicktime 5 (included on the CD) to solve the problem. Apart from that, the CDs are a nice way to learn this type of program. You can visit the VTC site to download previews of their training CDs to get an idea, but the CD quality is way better than the downloaded (compressed) version.
