When I first plugged this in the cigarette lighter worked very good. It charged up my HP laptop perfectly. I had no problems with it except it made a noise. Must be the fan that's cooling the inside because it had vents on the side.

I never again have problen to charge my lap top. this item never fail

OK - first off great purchase experience...received quickly at a great price. I just put it into use and have used it with my iPhone 3GS and a new ThinkPad laptop. It does a great job charging both products. Now for the bad...owing to the electronic buzz I cannot listen to music on the iPhone or the ThinkPad. Both play clearly when not plugged into the charging device. I still rate it a buy based on it's charging capabilities. Everyone should keep one in their car.

The power adapter charges so many things. I can charge by blackberry with the USB Port or power my laptop. I can just pull in my laptop brick into the AC outlet and I am ready to go. The fan built into the unit keep it cool. I recomend this device to anyone who has lots of toys and spends time in the car

I love this when I'm traveling on road trips. I can plug it up and use my laptop or let my niece watch her dvds on my laptop, etc. It's great.

Arrived quickly, and upon opening it I was surprised to find a brief but surprisingly complete little pamphlet advising me on its capabilities (wow, up to and including televisions, though not beyond that capacity level) and other useful facts and tips. I've kept it in a large, jumbled flight bag which I constantly dig through as I carry it with me around the world on business. It has endured what other items have not over the months. I like that the USB male connector is multi-positional, too. The long truck trips and intercontinental red-eye flights have been made immeasurably easier since I refuse to keep buying expensive, low-capacity replacement batteries for my old laptop. The USB plug-in is handily functional, as well.

BTW, I'm not sure what others mean by "loud" in describing this...although I do use this with ambient noise, so maybe it's all relative. Anyhow, recommended!

Very loud. But does the job! Have not had the issue of elements on it. I have only had it for the summer, to keep my laptop charged in the car. Good for the money. If you go to an office supply store they are 60.00 and UP! Save your money and get it here!

****UPDATE*****10-08-11****** Upping the stars on this one!!! Still going strong, loaned it to a friend while they went camping. It has been through elements and years later it still works GREAT and for the price I paid it has been a life saver. I would never want to be without one of these again. The only reason I am not upping it to 5 stars is cause its noisy :P

I had a different converter with USB and power for the last two years- worked silently and like a charm. Sent it off with a friend and needed to buy a new one. I have to say I am disappointed in how loud the fan is. I have a Toyota Echo, fairly road-noisy car, and at speeds less than 30mph I can hear this fan. It works fine, and does its job- just wish the fan was quieter. This isn't under load either, the fan seems to run even if nothing is plugged in.


UPDATE 4/25/10 - A few months ago the fan started to make an incredibly annoying noise for the first 30 seconds or so fo operation then it settles down and goes back to be mildly annoying. I am knocking this down to 2 stars.

I love this adapter. It is easy to use and works wonderfully. The only downside is that it is a bit loud, but I find that the noise fades into the background quickly.

I received the adapter promptly and there were no problems with the seller.
