3.5/5 Stars,
By Dillon D Barnes (Kansas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pro-tech's Nylon Intimidator Belt and Clip on Holster (Misc.)
Like I said in the title, I'd give it a 3.5 if I could but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. A little disclaimer before I start, this is the first "traditional" holster style I've owned, my other holsters are mostly fobus with a belly band or two for concealment.
So real quick I'll discuss cons I assume go along with any holster like this. It doesn't sit solid on your waste, it definitely hangs outward. I have trouble quickly drawing the gun with a good grip; I'm only able to get one or two fingers onto the grip to draw and usually have to adjust on the draw. I have no doubt that would improve with practice. Again, these are things that I think would be cons in all holsters of this type, not something bad with this one in particular. Some cons: Thumb break is poorly designed. It's not so much the design but just the amount of plastic break they put above the button. The picture is somewhat generous; when I hold the gun horizontal like in the picture, the top of the plastic levels with the other part of the retention strap across the back of the gun (where the web between your thumb and index finger go, I'm sure there is a technical term for that area). It's difficult enough to quickly pop the break by itself, but once its pressed against your side it's extremely difficult to cleanly and quickly break. A second con is the metal belt clip, this clip is completely useless for wearing on your belt (I'll get to the belt loop webbing in a minute). You might as well have a shoestring as a belt because of the play I experienced. The company claims you can switch the metal clip to the other side for left side use but I don't know how to remove it without bending it. Okay, I'll go over some of the good stuff now. Belt loop, works great, it's stiff and secure. I suppose it may loosen up with time but I'm sure it'll still work fine. The adjustable thumb breaks are cool. Velcro is covered up by nylon so it won't get dirty or smashed, that was a smart design. Extra magazine fits great and there is plenty of Velcro to hold it secure. Gun fits holster great, Glock 19 by the way. The inner "padding" holds the gun snug; that with the retention strap adjusted correctly, the gun is one with the holster. And of course one of the best Pros; the price! I would not wear this holster for daily use, it certainly isn't for concealed carry, way too bulky. But that's okay, I bought this to rig up into my car so I could holster the gun if I took it out of concealment while driving. The ambidextrous style is going to make it a lot easier to attach to my console around my right calf and the retention will make me rest easy that it won't by flying around the cab. So I'm really happy with it for what I'm going to be doing, but I would disappointed if this was going to be a carry holster.

This holster works, and is ambidextrous (clip can be moved from side to side) which is nice for flexibility of positioning as well. My M&P fits well in it. The slot for the extra clip is a little snug, but it should loosen up with use. Overall I would say this is a very comfortable, versatile mid-grade holster. The cons include an awkward release for the strap which may take some getting used to, and it is just a little bulky to be well concealed, but then a full size M&P is not really meant for deep concealment anyway.
